Her last day is Sept. 24.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;It is so bittersweet to say goodbye after an incredible journey <a href=\"https:\/\/www.chron.com\/news\/houston-texas\/article\/rachel-briers-kprc-2-22356327.php\" data-link=\"native\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\" target=\"_blank\" class=\"\">at ABC13<\/a>,&#8221; Edsitty wrote in an internal email to staff obtained by local media blogger <a href=\"https:\/\/mikemcguff.blogspot.com\/2026\/08\/charly-edsitty-leaving-abc13-houston.html\" data-link=\"native\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\" target=\"_blank\" class=\"\">Mike McGuff<\/a>. She said she was proud of what the newsroom accomplished together and thanked her colleagues for their hard work, memories and laughs.<\/p>\n<p>Edsitty, who has not publicly announced her departure, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.chron.com\/news\/houston-texas\/article\/abc13-joe-mccoy-houston-22333971.php\" data-link=\"native\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\" target=\"_blank\" class=\"\">joined ABC13<\/a> in 2018 as a multimedia journalist and was promoted to weekend morning anchor in 2023.<\/p>\n<p>In her farewell message,\u00a0Edsitty said her eight years in Houston shaped her into the journalist she is today. She praised her ABC13 colleagues as some of the most dedicated and talented people she has worked with and called it a privilege to share a newsroom with them.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;It was a fun ride and I will always root for your continued success,&#8221; Edsitty wrote.<\/p>\n<p>A member of the Navajo Nation,\u00a0Edsitty grew up in Glendale, Ariz., and graduated from <a href=\"https:\/\/www.chron.com\/texas\/article\/baylor-core-curriculum-texas-22266351.php\" data-link=\"native\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\" target=\"_blank\" class=\"\">Baylor University<\/a> with a degree in print journalism. She is also a member of the Native American Journalists Association.<\/p>\n<p>Her broadcast career began in 2013 at\u00a0KPNX in Phoenix, where she started as a planning producer before working her way into an on-air reporting role for 12 News Today. She later worked as a bureau reporter in Flagstaff before returning to Phoenix as a general assignment reporter.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"A longtime member of ABC13&#8217;s news team is signing off after nearly a decade in Houston.
