An NYPD officer and at least four other victims were killed in a shooting at an office skyscraper in midtown Manhattan Monday evening, according to law enforcement sources.<\/p>\n
The shooting occurred in the lobby of 345 Park Avenue on East 52nd Street. The gunman, armed with an assault rifle, shot a police officer, multiple sources said. The police officer was rushed to the hospital, but later died.<\/p>\n
At least four civilians were also killed, according to police.<\/p>\n
NYPD Commissioner Jessica Tisch said just before 8 p.m. that the shooter was “neutralized” and the scene had been contained.<\/p>\n
The suspect was later identified as Shane Tamura, who sources said died from a self-inflicted gunshot to the head on the 33rd floor of the office high-rise. A motive for the shooting was not clear.<\/p>\n
