\n\tNetflix<\/a> has released several first-look photos for its upcoming limited series East of Eden<\/a>, which you can view above and below. Zoe Kazan<\/a>\u2019s adaptation of John Steinbeck\u2019s classic 1952 novel, starring and executive produced by Florence Pugh<\/a>, will premiere October 1 on the streamer, nearly four years after it was first announced.<\/p>\n

\n\tEast of Eden, a modern interpretation of the novel, will explore the multigenerational saga of the Trask family, focusing new attention on its indelible antihero, Cathy Ames (Pugh).<\/p>\n

\n\tThe series also stars Tracy Letts as Cyrus Trask; Martha Plimpton as Faye; Ciar\u00e1n Hinds\u00a0as Samuel Hamilton; Joseph Zada as Cal Trask; Joe Anders as Aron Trask;\u00a0Christopher Abbott<\/a>\u00a0as Adam Trask;\u00a0Mike Faist<\/a>\u00a0as Charles Trask; and Hoon Lee as Lee.<\/p>\n

\n\tFilmed across multiple locations in New Zealand, East of Eden\u00a0hails from co-studios Fifth Season and Anonymous Content. <\/p>\n

\n\tKazan penned the screen adaptation of the novel, which was previously turned into a 1955 movie directed by her grandfather, Elia Kazan. She serves as co-showrunner alongside Jeb Stuart. The two and Pugh executive produce alongside Garth Davis, who directs episodes 1-4; Laure de Clermont-Tonnerre, who directs episodes 5-7 and Antoine Douiahy, Zack Hayden, Steve Golin, David Levine and Jill Arthur.<\/p>\n
