{"id":100938,"date":"2025-07-29T02:33:10","date_gmt":"2025-07-29T02:33:10","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/100938\/"},"modified":"2025-07-29T02:33:10","modified_gmt":"2025-07-29T02:33:10","slug":"seth-meyers-would-worry-about-mental-health-if-late-night-is-canceled","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/100938\/","title":{"rendered":"Seth Meyers Would Worry About &#8216;Mental Health&#8217; If Late Night Is Canceled"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/  a-font-body-m     \">\n\tSeth Meyers is getting candid about <a href=\"https:\/\/www.hollywoodreporter.com\/tv\/tv-news\/cbs-colbert-late-show-cancel-profit-tv-1236319484\/\" data-type=\"link\" data-id=\"https:\/\/www.hollywoodreporter.com\/tv\/tv-news\/cbs-colbert-late-show-cancel-profit-tv-1236319484\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">late night television\u2019s uncertain future<\/a> and the fear that comes along with it as the host of NBC\u2019s Late Night.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/  a-font-body-m     \">\n\tThe comedian, who has been hosting <a href=\"https:\/\/www.hollywoodreporter.com\/t\/late-night-seth-meyers\/\" id=\"auto-tag_late-night-seth-meyers_1\" data-tag=\"late-night-seth-meyers\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Late Night With Seth Meyers<\/a> since 2014, recently appeared on the <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" data-id=\"https:\/\/youtu.be\/0T3jkrZ103E?si=4nGHQUalJraLMJ-c\" data-type=\"link\" href=\"https:\/\/youtu.be\/0T3jkrZ103E?si=4nGHQUalJraLMJ-c\" target=\"_blank\">Armchair Expert with Dax Shepard podcast<\/a>, where he opened up about the industry and how he\u2019ll feel if his show comes to an end. <\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/  a-font-body-m     \">\n\tEarlier this month, <a data-id=\"https:\/\/www.hollywoodreporter.com\/tv\/tv-news\/cbs-ending-late-show-stephen-colbert-2026-1236319194\/#\" data-type=\"link\" href=\"https:\/\/www.hollywoodreporter.com\/tv\/tv-news\/cbs-ending-late-show-stephen-colbert-2026-1236319194\/#\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">The Late Show With Stephen Colbert was abruptly canceled by CBS<\/a>, with the network citing a \u201cfinancial decision\u201d for the cancellation. Armchair Expert <a rel=\"nofollow noopener\" data-id=\"https:\/\/www.instagram.com\/reel\/DMp1-d6sdBY\/?utm_source=ig_web_copy_link\" data-type=\"link\" href=\"https:\/\/www.instagram.com\/reel\/DMp1-d6sdBY\/?utm_source=ig_web_copy_link\" target=\"_blank\">noted on Instagram <\/a>that this episode was filmed before The Late Show news.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/  a-font-body-m     \">\n\tAt one point, host Dax Shepard asked Meyers if he had any \u201cfear\u201d that his career in late night could \u201cend tomorrow.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/  a-font-body-m     \">\n\t\u201cI do. I mean, only because it is such a time we\u2019re living in, as far as the entertainment industry,\u201d Meyers admitted. \u201cThere is this weird thing that I feel like I shifted from fearing that I wouldn\u2019t be good enough. And now my fear is weirdly more outside of my control, which is \u2026 just at some point, the ecosystem might not support [late night].\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/  a-font-body-m     \">\n\t\u201cI guess that\u2019s better than thinking it\u2019s your fault, but it is weird to not feel any control over it,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/  a-font-body-m     \">\n\tThroughout his time in late night television, Meyers said he has learned to focus on what he can control, which is \u201cjust show up and do the work.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/  a-font-body-m     \">\n\t\u201cThat\u2019s the only part they\u2019re paying you to do. It\u2019s the only part you\u2019re good at,\u201d he explained. \u201cAll the other problems, we have people that are as good at that as you are at the thing you do \u2014 and don\u2019t mess around with it.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/  a-font-body-m     \">\n\tHe continued, \u201cI sometimes take stock of, oh, this isn\u2019t the best time to be doing what I\u2019m doing, but at least I got in. So I sometimes think, all right, the body of my work matters enough that the world knows <a href=\"https:\/\/www.hollywoodreporter.com\/t\/seth-myers\/\" id=\"auto-tag_seth-myers_1\" data-tag=\"seth-myers\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Seth Myers<\/a> in a way that I\u2019m happy with.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/  a-font-body-m     \">\n\tDespite the uncertainty of late night and \u201cwhatever time we\u2019re living in now,\u201d Meyers also noted that he has \u201chad lower points in the body of the show.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/  a-font-body-m     \">\n\t\u201cEarly on in the show, we had some NBC executives actually say to us, \u2018We\u2019re very worried about how the show\u2019s gonna go,&#8217;\u201d he recalled. \u201cBut in a great way, with like no real instruction as to how to get out of it. We just wanted to plant fear.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/  a-font-body-m     \">\n\tLooking ahead, Armchair Expert\u00a0co-host Monica Padman asked the comedian if his financial security helps ease his worries about Late Night coming to an end.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/  a-font-body-m     \">\n\t\u201cI would worry about myself, like, mental health-wise,\u201d Meyers responded. \u201cBut I put a lot of thought into diversifying my skill set. Certainly, financially, I could have been fine just doing the show for the last eleven years. But then it was like, oh, you know what? I feel like there\u2019s something to trying to build a stand-up career and trying to do other things.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/  a-font-body-m     \">\n\t\u201cIt\u2019s more like, try to find something that makes you as happy as late night\u2019s making you, but it\u2019s not just to have busy work or anything. It\u2019s like, oh, I like these things, too.
