{"id":1009713,"date":"2026-08-19T00:30:15","date_gmt":"2026-08-19T00:30:15","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/1009713\/"},"modified":"2026-08-19T00:30:15","modified_gmt":"2026-08-19T00:30:15","slug":"neighborhood-drainage-upgrades-coming-to-harris-county-precinct-4-spring-klein","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/1009713\/","title":{"rendered":"Neighborhood drainage upgrades coming to Harris County Precinct 4 | Spring &#8211; Klein"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Six northwest Harris County neighborhoods are receiving drainage upgrades, Commissioner Lesley Briones announced Aug. 14 at a press conference in the Windsong subdivision.<\/p>\n<p><strong>The overview<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/cp4.harriscountytx.gov\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Precinct 4<\/a> is investing $11.35 million to improve drainage infrastructure in these neighborhoods with histories of repetitive flooding:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Northglen<\/li>\n<li>Sheffield<\/li>\n<li>Silvermill<\/li>\n<li>Westfield<\/li>\n<li>Westlake Forest<\/li>\n<li>Windsong<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Each project will cost $1 million-3.5 million, said Syan Rhodes, director of content and media relations for Precinct 4. The upgraded drainage systems will have higher capacity stormwater pipes, which will reduce street flooding and protect homes and vehicles during heavy rainfall, according to a news release.<\/p>\n<p>Walter Hambrick, Precinct 4\u2019s director of road and bridge operations, said the new infrastructure will hold and move more water through the county\u2019s 2,500 linear mile <a href=\"https:\/\/www.google.com\/url?q=https:\/\/www.hcfcd.org\/About\/About-the-Flood-Control-District&amp;sa=D&amp;source=docs&amp;ust=1787065234179566&amp;usg=AOvVaw0eLOn8gsIaL9VFvLBIhyHy\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Flood Control District<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Each project is estimated to take four to eight weeks to complete, with all six projects expected to wrap up this fall.<\/p>\n<p>Six neighborhood drainage infrastructure projects across Precinct 4 will be completed this fall. (Courtesy Harris County Precinct 4)<\/p>\n<p>Briones said the projects will impact 10,000 residents and more than 3,000 properties.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAs a result of these investments, there will be faster rainwater runoff, reduced street flooding, improved access in and out of the neighborhood \u2014 because when you\u2019re trapped and your car cannot safely move, that is a problem, as many Harris County residents have experienced,\u201d Briones said.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Some context<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Rick Gomez, president of the <a href=\"http:\/\/google.com\/url?q=https:\/\/windsonginsider.com\/&amp;sa=D&amp;source=docs&amp;ust=1787065211108011&amp;usg=AOvVaw2UqXHlmZFofl5-_0Gz0raD\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Windsong Homeowners Association<\/a>, said he has experienced many flooding events in the neighborhood. In July, some areas flooded from Tropical Storm Bertha\u2019s heavy rainfall, he said.
