The report, which was sent to Mayor Zohran Mamdani and schools Chancellor Kamar Samuels, found that 64.8% of incidents consisted of verbal harassment, physical threats, assaults and hate symbols like swastikas. \u201cThe data compiled by United Jewish Teachers demonstrate that antisemitism remains a serious and ongoing problem in New York City Public Schools,\u201d United Jewish Teachers President Moshe Spern told the <a href=\"https:\/\/nypost.com\/2026\/08\/18\/us-news\/nyc-schools-rack-up-disturbing-250-antisemitic-anti-israel-incidents-since-oct-7-2023-scathing-report\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">New York Post<\/a>.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Saving Camp Lavi:<\/strong> Parents and supporters of Camp Lavi, a Modern Orthodox camp serving New York City, Westchester and Long Island, are racing to save the Pennsylvania sleep away camp after <a href=\"https:\/\/www.jta.org\/2026\/07\/30\/ny\/mamdani-defends-absence-of-jews-on-judicial-committee\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">its owners filed bankruptcy<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/ejewishphilanthropy.com\/why-camp-lavi-means-so-much-to-this-modern-orthodox-community\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">eJewish Philanthropy reports.<\/a> Last Tuesday, parents and supporters launched a crowdfunding campaign with the goal of reaching $4.75 million to purchase the property. By Monday, the campaign raised 66% of its goal, with the UJA-Federation of New York agreeing to match up to $500,000.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Carmella Charrington<\/strong>, the district leader of the Brooklyn Democratic Party who has previously faced scrutiny for <a href=\"https:\/\/www.jta.org\/2026\/06\/29\/ny\/brooklyn-democratic-leader-draws-scrutiny-for-sharing-antisemitic-post\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">amplifying antisemitic conspiracy theories on social media<\/a>, blamed a legal dispute involving her family\u2019s brownstone home in Bed Stuy on \u201cZionists\u201d during an interview with podcaster Rahma Zein. \u201cThey\u2019re Zionists that basically did this. Same thing that they\u2019re doing in the West Bank, it\u2019s the same thing. There\u2019s a connection,\u201d Charrington said.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Antisemitic fliers:<\/strong> A spate of antisemitic fliers targeting a city housing redevelopment project have cropped up in Chelsea, the <a href=\"https:\/\/nypost.com\/2026\/08\/16\/us-news\/opponents-of-new-nycha-project-spread-ugly-antisemitic-racist-and-homophobic-flyers\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">New York Post<\/a> reports. The fliers, which included the phrase \u201cstop Zionist occupation of Manhattan,\u201d appeared to take aim at a partnership between the New York City Housing Authority, Essen Development and The Related Companies to replace the Fulton and Elliott-Chelsea Houses with 3,454 new, mixed-income homes. \u201cWe strongly condemn the targeting and harassment of staff members, who are dedicated public servants working every day to assist New Yorkers,\u201d NYCHA spokesman Michael Horgan told the Post.<strong><br \/><\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong>The Israeli airline Israir<\/strong> announced Tuesday that it will begin launching flights to New York by October, bringing some relief to travelers after the main U.S. carriers ceased flights amid the war with Iran, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.jns.org\/news\/israel-news\/israir-plans-new-york-flights-by-october\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">JNS reports<\/a>.
