Primarily what requires connectivity is more complex commands \u2014 like rewriting in a particular style or, for example, asking to make a block of text shorter.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>Needless to say, it sounds like offline voice typing via Rambler could still be an effective solution.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Original article: August 18, 2026 (5:50 AM ET):<\/strong> Google announced Gboard\u2019s <a href=\"https:\/\/www.androidauthority.com\/gboard-rambler-gemini-intelligence-3665653\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Rambler<\/a> feature earlier this year, coming as part of the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.androidauthority.com\/gemini-intelligence-3665302\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Gemini Intelligence<\/a> suite. However, an official support page shows that this voice transcription feature has usage limits. So what does that mean?<\/p>\n<p>Google\u2019s <a href=\"https:\/\/support.google.com\/gboard\/answer\/17468539\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\">support page<\/a> for Rambler mentions that the smart dictation feature relies on the cloud for its polished transcriptions, but switches to offline models when you have limited or no internet connectivity. However, it also notes that Rambler is subject to usage limits, without elaborating on the details.<\/p>\n<p>Now, a Google representative has told Android Authority what happens when you reach the usage cap:<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p>Following up to share a response for your question \u2014 confirming that Rambler switches to offline mode after users have reached the limit.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>The offline mode is effectively the offline voice typing seen on previous <a href=\"https:\/\/www.androidauthority.com\/google-pixel-11-series-3693865\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Pixel phones<\/a>. That means you can take advantage of basic punctuation, capitalization, and cleanup. Unfortunately, you lose out on advanced \u201cstylistic rewrites and complex conversational voice editing.\u201d Presumably, that means Rambler won\u2019t remove filler words and awkward pauses when you\u2019ve reached the cap.<\/p>\n<p>In any event, we\u2019re glad there\u2019s still a basic fallback option for Rambler after hitting the usage cap.
