The vessel scored a 98 out of 100 during a May 7, 2026, inspection \u2014 a \u201csatisfactory\u201d rating under VSP standards.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Box-_wrDxHtU__Box-sc-10sa3ie-0 Text-nO2aZ44r__TextBase-sc-s2hv5x-0 jJNfBD fSvavs article-text\">Norwegian Gem, which was homeported in in Jacksonville from October 2025 through April 2026 was close behind with a score of 94 during a March 23, 2026, inspection \u2014 also rated \u201csatisfactory.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"Box-_wrDxHtU__Box-sc-10sa3ie-0 Text-nO2aZ44r__TextBase-sc-s2hv5x-0 jJNfBD fSvavs article-text\">Norwegian Dawn, however, fell short. The ship scored an 84 during its March 29, 2026, inspection \u2014 one point below the VSP\u2019s minimum passing threshold of 85 \u2014 earning a \u201cnot satisfactory\u201d rating. Norwegian Dawn is scheduled to homeport from Jacksonville during the 2026-2027 season, running November 2026 through March 2027, according to JAXPORT. <\/p>\n<p>What the scores mean<\/p>\n<p class=\"Box-_wrDxHtU__Box-sc-10sa3ie-0 Text-nO2aZ44r__TextBase-sc-s2hv5x-0 jJNfBD fSvavs article-text\">Under CDC\u2019s Vessel Sanitation Program, any cruise ship scoring 85 or below is rated \u201cnot satisfactory.\u201d Ships scoring above 85 receive a \u201csatisfactory\u201d designation, signaling the vessel is meeting public health standards across the program\u2019s key inspection areas.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Box-_wrDxHtU__Box-sc-10sa3ie-0 Text-nO2aZ44r__TextBase-sc-s2hv5x-0 jJNfBD fSvavs article-text\">VSP inspections assess how well ships operate and maintain public health standards across eight major areas aboard each vessel. Inspection scores and reports \u2014 including any violations found and recommendations for addressing them \u2014 are publicly available for passengers who want to review a ship\u2019s health record before booking.<\/p>\n<p>What passengers can do<\/p>\n<p class=\"Box-_wrDxHtU__Box-sc-10sa3ie-0 Text-nO2aZ44r__TextBase-sc-s2hv5x-0 jJNfBD fSvavs article-text\">Travelers are encouraged to check VSP inspection scores before booking a cruise.
