Charania notes that the Wizards have been looking for another guard for the last several weeks.<\/p>\n<p><strong>7:00 pm:<\/strong> The <strong>Nuggets<\/strong> are trading restricted free agent wing <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.basketball-reference.com\/players\/w\/watsope01.html?utm_medium=linker&amp;utm_source=www.hoopsrumors.com&amp;utm_campaign=2026-08-19_bbr\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">Peyton Watson<\/a><\/strong> to the <strong>Cavaliers<\/strong> as part of a three-team deal with the <strong>Clippers<\/strong>, Shams Charania reports for ESPN (<a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/ShamsCharania\/status\/2090226461609250939?s=20\" rel=\"nofollow\">Twitter link<\/a>). Watson will sign a four-year, $88MM deal with Cleveland that includes a player option and a 7.5% trade kicker, per Michael Scotto of HoopsHype (<a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/MikeAScotto\/status\/2090231961805594971?s=20\" rel=\"nofollow\">via Twitter<\/a>).<\/p>\n<p>Cavs wing <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.basketball-reference.com\/players\/s\/strusma01.html?utm_medium=linker&amp;utm_source=www.hoopsrumors.com&amp;utm_campaign=2026-08-19_bbr\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">Max Strus<\/a><\/strong> will be sent to the Clippers, and the Nuggets will receive a 2031 first-round pick from the Cavaliers and a 2032 second-rounder from the Kings.<\/p>\n<p>The Cavs have been searching for their wing of the future for several years, cycling through players like <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.basketball-reference.com\/players\/o\/okorois01.html?utm_medium=linker&amp;utm_source=www.hoopsrumors.com&amp;utm_campaign=2026-08-19_bbr\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">Isaac Okoro<\/a><\/strong>, <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.basketball-reference.com\/players\/h\/huntede01.html?utm_medium=linker&amp;utm_source=www.hoopsrumors.com&amp;utm_campaign=2026-08-19_bbr\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">De\u2019Andre Hunter<\/a><\/strong>, and <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.basketball-reference.com\/players\/w\/wadede01.html?utm_medium=linker&amp;utm_source=www.hoopsrumors.com&amp;utm_campaign=2026-08-19_bbr\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">Dean Wade<\/a><\/strong>. In Watson, they land an athletic 23-year-old wing who was likely going to be a favorite for Most Improved Player last season before an injury derailed his season. He averaged 14.6 points, 4.9 rebounds, and 1.1 blocks last season while posting .491\/.411\/.730 shooting splits.<\/p>\n<p>How well Watson fits with the Cavs\u2019 core will depend largely on whether he\u2019s able to sustain his outside shooting. He holds a career 36.1% mark from deep, but has tended to be a low-volume shooter.
