And at the LIV season finale in Indianapolis, it was as frigid as whatever is left of the polar ice caps.

LIV Golf is a sinking ship, finally confirming that its planned season-ending team championship event in Michigan has been canceled and ending their season prematurely. In spite of the announcement that LIV had secured a “lead investor,” doubts about the league’s ability to survive are growing.

And at the moment, the future of LIV Golf may rest with DeChambeau and Jon Rahm.

The American and the Spaniard are the two biggest remaining stars on the circuit and reports are rampant that Rahm could be soon trying to find a pathway out. DeChambeau has been much more vocally supportive of LIV, even suggesting that he would be willing to stand by the tour and focus on his YouTube career and the majors.

However, the stress and uncertainty may be getting to him.

In Indianapolis, Bryson DeChambeau had a golf reporter removed from a practice range session for recording his practice session. The media member in question was Ryan French, who runs the popular and informative Monday Q Info account and is part of Golf Channel’s Big Break. Sean Zak of Golf.com relayed that DeChambeau had French booted after greeting a trio of reporters by jokingly calling them the “mafia.”

Got booted off the range by Bryson today. #1,892 on the list of what the hell has happened to my life. https://t.co/2FR03fGWdl

— Monday Q Info (@acaseofthegolf1) August 19, 2026

It’s not the first time that Bryson DeChambeau, or his representatives, have had a negative run-in with the media. In 2020, he confronted a cameraman over protecting his brand. He had his infamous feud with Brooks Koepka before the two reconciled and joined LIV together. His agent was involved in a confrontation with Damon Hack at the 2024 US Open. And then there were his insane antics at this year’s British Open where he also continued a year-long streak of boycotting interviews with the media at major championships.

Whew. That’s a lot.

DeChambeau has shown a much more personable side, specifically on his popular YouTube channel. He’s even been downright charming in some of his media interactions over the years. But he’s shown a certain amount of petulance that has always led golf fans to wonder which persona is real and which one is for show.

A few hours after the incident, French returned to post that DeChambeau reached out to him in a call and seemed to suggest that whatever hatchet had existed between the two was quickly buried.

Bryson gave me a call this afternoon, we spoke for about 20 mins. But any hostility or negative actions towards the media certainly isn’t going to help his case or that of LIV Golf. And soon, Bryson could find himself as a golfer without a home if LIV is unable to survive and he is unwilling to abide by the PGA Tour’s list of demands to return. The stress and uncertainty over DeChambeau’s future likely isn’t going to go anywhere soon. And the questions and the media coverage aren’t going away either.
