The result was the sixth win in a row for Chicago, the longest such streak across all competitions since 1998.

Forward Robert Lewandowski tallied his third goal of the regular season for Chicago and second game-winning goal. Midfielder David Poreba made his MLS debut, assisting Puso Dithejane’s second league goal of the season.

In one of the first forays into the Orlando City half, Poreba recovered a defensive clearance and quickly served the ball up to Puso Dithejane. The South African winger took a touch, turned and shot off his far post and in for the Fire lead in only the fourth minute of play. Orlando recovered some momentum but could not turn it into a goal before the weather interrupted the match in the 44th minute.

The hosts got the equalizer shortly after a brief halftime break off a corner kick header by defender David Brekalo. But the Fire regained the reins of the match as the half wore on, culminating in a foul in the box drawn by Lewandowski after the hour mark. After a review upheld the call on the field, the Polish striker went across his body to beat MLS All-Star goalkeeper Maxime Crépeau and give the Men in Red a 2-1 lead they would hang on to for good.

NEXT MATCH: Chicago Fire FC continues its league road trip against Red Bull New York at Sports Illustrated Stadium in Harrison, N.J. Kickoff is set for 6:30 p.m. CT on Saturday, Aug. 22 and the match will be broadcast globally on Apple TV, and transmitted locally on WLS 890 AM in English and TUDN Chicago 106.7-HD2 and Uforia by TREBEL app in Spanish.

Chicago Fire FC recorded its first six-game winning streak across all competitions since 1998, when the Men in Red rattled off 11 wins in a row in regular season play, then won their first-ever U.S. Open Cup match against Chicago Stingers on July 6.

Robert Lewandowski scored his first penalty attempt of the season, tallying his second game-winning goal of the year. He now has three goals in his last three league games, to go with another goal in Leagues Cup 2026 against Santos Laguna on Aug. 9.

Winger Puso Dithejane scored his second goal in only his second start of the regular season. Across all competitions, the South African winger has three goals in his last three matches, recording both goals in the Leagues Cup 2026 victory over Cruz Azul on August 13 at SeatGeek Stadium.

Midfielder David Poreba made his Major League Soccer debut for his hometown team from the outset. The appearance was his third with the first team across all competitions, starting against Detroit City FC on April 14 in the Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup and coming in as a substitute in the Leagues Cup match against Necaxa on August 6.

Poreba became the ninth player in Fire history to tally an assist in his MLS debut. The 2024 MLS NEXT Pro MVP shared the locker room tonight with the previous two to accomplish this feat for the Fire – winger Jonathan Bamba and forward Jason Shokalook.

Midfielder Sergio Oregel Jr. (Lower Body) and winger Chris Mueller (Not Due to Injury) were unavailable for selection against Orlando.
