Arthur Blank currently owns just under 73% of the Falcons. It is unclear if the 10% being sold is just Blank’s stake or includes limited partners.

The deal, according to the two people, will take place over the next 18 months in two tranches with an enterprise value of $10.6 billion. If the deal is approved by the NFL, which is expected to vote on it in October, the Falcons would be Arctos’ fourth investment in an NFL team, the others being the Los Angeles Chargers, the Buffalo Bills and the Cleveland Browns.

The NFL declined to comment. The Falcons and Arctos did not respond to a request for comment.

NFL valuations have increased with the pending sale of the Seattle Seahawks for an NFL record $9.61 billion.
