When the pads come on, the intensity and physical nature of practice tends to ramp up, and usually by the end of the week it leads to the odd skirmish here and there. Nothing to report on the roughhousing front, but there was some rough news that was confirmed by Coach Mike Macdonald.

Let’s get to the Day 5 recap!

News

Kenny McIntosh’s season over, Seahawks sign DK Kaufman

As expected, the Seahawks placed running back Kenny McIntosh on injured reserve after Mike Macdonald confirmed he tore his ACL in Saturday’s practice. He’ll have surgery on Tuesday and obviously his season is over. A real awful way for McIntosh’s season to end before it even begins.

NC State rookie DK Kaufman was signed as McIntosh’s replacement, switching over from defensive back to running back. He’ll also factor in special teams as a kick returner.

Seahawks bring in five players for tryouts

The NFL transaction wire says the Seahawks brought in five players for tryouts.

Jesse Luketa, LB, Penn State

Travis Martin, DB, Langston

Efe Obada, DE, International Player Pathway

Benny Sapp, DB, Northern Iowa

Ridge Texada, DB, North Texas

Martin and Texada are undrafted rookie defensive backs, Luketa spent four seasons with the Arizona Cardinals, Sapp has spent time with the Green Bay Packers and Atlanta Falcons, and Obada has the distinction of being the first player from the International Player Pathway program to make a 53-man roster. His backstory is as heartbreaking as it is amazing that he’s made it to the NFL. Not every 11-on-11 session will be like this, as Mike Macdonald has indicated significant rotation at center and right guard, but Monday’s practice predominantly featured Jalen Sundell over Christian Haynes and Anthony Bradford.

Full team 11-on-11 and the most-used OL combo today has been….

Cross, Zabel, Olu, SUNDELL, Lucas.

— Dan Viens (Seahawks Forever Podcast) (@SeahawksForever) July 28, 2025

Jalen Milroe gets pick 6’d by a familiar foe

We had a rookie-on-rookie moment at camp. I’m pretty sure this is the first pick-6 of camp for any Seahawks QB, and if it’s going to happen, you’d love to see a rookie make a big play even at the expense of another rookie.

Rookies Nick Emmanwori—and Jalen Milroe—learn how Mike Macdonald’s #Seahawks defensive schemes fool.

Emmanwori lined up on line as edge rusher for offense play off own goal line.
