\n\tSeth Meyers<\/a> is opening up about his future in late-night.<\/p>\n

\n\tOn a recent episode of \u201cArmchair Expert with Dax Shepard<\/a>,\u201d Meyers said the future of his show, \u201cLate Night With Seth Meyers<\/a>,\u201d is \u201coutside of my control,\u201d and that he worries the entire TV \u201cecosystem\u201d eventually \u201cmight not support\u201d evening talk shows altogether. The \u201cArmchair Expert\u201d Instagram account noted that the interview was recorded before the news<\/a> that \u201cThe Late Show With Stephen Colbert<\/a>\u201d was canceled.<\/p>\n

\n\tWhen asked by host Dax Shepard if he had any \u201cfear\u201d that his show could \u201cend tomorrow,\u201d Meyers said, \u201cI do. I mean, only because it is such a time we\u2019re living in, as far as the entertainment industry. There is this weird thing that I feel like I shifted from fearing that I wouldn\u2019t be good enough. And now my fear is weirdly more outside of my control, which is \u2026 just at some point, the ecosystem might not support [late-night].\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tMeyers added that despite the urge to worry, he tries to focus on the job and trust that his team has his back.<\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cThat\u2019s the only part they\u2019re paying you to do. It\u2019s the only part you\u2019re good at,\u201d Meyers said. \u201cAll the other problems, we have people that are as good at that as you are at the thing you do \u2014 and don\u2019t mess around with it.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tLater in the interview, Meyers was asked by co-host Monica Padman about his financial stability if \u201cLate Night\u201d was cancelled. He explained he was more worried about his mental well-being than his bank account.<\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cI would worry about myself, like, mental health-wise,\u201d he said. \u201cBut I put a lot of thought into diversifying my skill set. Certainly, financially, I could have been fine just doing the show for the last eleven years. But then it was like, oh, you know what? I feel like there\u2019s something to trying to build a stand-up career and trying to do other things.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tHe added, \u201cIt\u2019s more like, try to find something that makes you as happy as late night\u2019s making you, but it\u2019s not just to have busy work or anything. It\u2019s like, oh, I like these things, too. And there\u2019s no one entity that can take everything away at once, and I think that\u2019s the scariest situation to be in.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tThe long-struggling late-night industry has been put on notice ever since CBS abruptly canceled Stephen Colbert\u2019s \u201cLate Show.\u201d While the network cited the move as a \u201cfinancial decision,\u201d some have wondered if it was to appease a Donald Trump-controlled FCC amid a pending merger between Paramount, CBS\u2019 parent company, and Skydance.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"Seth Meyers is opening up about his future in late-night.
