When officers arrived, they found <a href=\"https:\/\/www.news4jax.com\/news\/local\/2026\/03\/12\/something\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer nofollow noopener\" title=\"https:\/\/www.news4jax.com\/news\/local\/2026\/03\/12\/something\/\">61-year-old Roderick Crawford<\/a> with multiple gunshot wounds. <\/p>\n<p class=\"Box-_wrDxHtU__Box-sc-10sa3ie-0 Text-nO2aZ44r__TextBase-sc-s2hv5x-0 jJNfBD fSvavs article-text\">JSO said surveillance video showed Crawford loading clothing into a dryer when a young man wearing a mask shot him in the back of the head.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Box-_wrDxHtU__Box-sc-10sa3ie-0 Text-nO2aZ44r__TextBase-sc-s2hv5x-0 jJNfBD fSvavs article-text\">The alleged shooter was identified as Crawford\u2019s nephew, La\u2019Darius Purdy.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Box-_wrDxHtU__Box-sc-10sa3ie-0 Text-nO2aZ44r__TextBase-sc-s2hv5x-0 jJNfBD fSvavs article-text\">On Wednesday, Purdy was arrested on an active warrant for domestic battery, stemming from an incident in January.<\/p>\n<p class=\"Box-_wrDxHtU__Box-sc-10sa3ie-0 Text-nO2aZ44r__TextBase-sc-s2hv5x-0 jJNfBD fSvavs article-text\">While he was in jail on Thursday, detectives interviewed Purdy about his uncle\u2019s murder.
