The Pulitzer Prizes<\/a> and the American Library Association<\/a> announced Thursday the launch of a new traveling exhibition<\/a>, Pulitzer on the Road: Prize-Winning Works That Inform, Empower & Inspire<\/strong>.<\/p>\n The 1,400-square-foot display will visit<\/a> 20 public libraries across the United States over the next two <\/strong>years<\/strong>, with its debut scheduled for mid-October at the Dallas Public Library\u2019s J. Erik Jonsson Central Library <\/strong>and the Chicago Public Library\u2019s Harold Washington Library Center.<\/p>\n The exhibition, produced and fully funded by The Pulitzer Prizes in partnership<\/a> with the American Library Association, features panels, interactive stations, and storytelling focused on more than a century of prize-winning journalism, books, drama, and music. It remains free and open to the <\/strong>public<\/strong> at every stop.\u00a0<\/p>\n Exhibition Details and Launch Events<\/p>\n According to the joint announcement<\/a>, the national tour begins in October at the two central libraries in Dallas <\/strong>and Chicago, where the exhibition will remain on display through December 2026. <\/p>\n Public launch events are set for October 14 in Chicago and October 24 in Dallas. The Dallas event will feature<\/a> author Barbara Kingsolver, the 2023 Fiction winner<\/a>, and composer Gabriela Frank, the 2026 Music winner<\/a>.\u00a0<\/p>\n Marjorie Miller, administrator of The Pulitzer Prizes, stated<\/a> the following:<\/p>\n \u201cPulitzer on the Road was created to bring Pulitzer Prize-winning journalism and storytelling to communities across the country, showcasing the exceptional work that has been honored since the prizes were first awarded in 1917. This exhibition and associated events will be free to attend and open to the public, so as many people as possible can experience firsthand the impact these stories have had. ALA is a terrific partner for this endeavor.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n Maria McCauley, president of the American Library Association, added<\/a> that \u201cPublic libraries are the perfect venue for this exhibition because they are places where people congregate to learn, discover new perspectives and engage with ideas that shape our communities. By partnering with The Pulitzer Prizes to bring Pulitzer on the Road to libraries nationwide, we\u2019re creating opportunities for visitors to connect with the excellent prize-winning works that drive curiosity, conversation and civic engagement.\u201d<\/p>\n Host Libraries and Scope<\/p>\n The 20 selected libraries, chosen from a competitive applicant pool, span communities from California to Puerto Rico.<\/p>\n Each will host the exhibition for approximately six weeks and receive cash grants<\/strong> to support related public programming.
