The maniac who stabbed a 30-year-old mom to death<\/a> during a barbecue at a Brooklyn park was enraged because she turned down his advances \u2013 and carried out the horrifying attack in front of the victim\u2019s 7-year-old son, according to the NYPD.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Shakeema Davis, 30, was stabbed repeatedly in the head and body inside Lincoln Terrace\u2013Arthur S. Somers Park at Rochester Avenue and Eastern Parkway in Crown Heights around 12:41 a.m. Tuesday, authorities said.\u00a0<\/p>\n

The violence unfolded during a gathering that Davis herself had organized \u2013 and her future killer called her to find out where it was happening, according to NYPD Chief of Detectives Joseph Kenny.\u00a0<\/p>\n

\u201cHe shows up to the location,\u201d Kenny said. \u201cThroughout the course of the evening, everybody\u2019s hanging out, drinking, smoking, listening to music. Our eventual stabber keeps soliciting her \u2013 our victim \u2013 for sex. She keeps saying no. They\u2019re arguing. It\u2019s verbal. It turns physical.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cAfter she throws a drink on him, he begins to assault her,\u201d the chief added. \u201cShe actually picks up the barbecue in an attempt to get him away from her and strikes him with the barbecue. Once he\u2019s struck with the barbecue, he pulls out a knife and stabs her three times, causing her death.\u201d<\/p>\n

Davis was rushed to Brookdale Hospital Medical Center, where she succumbed to her injuries, police said.<\/p>\n

Investigators have identified a strong person of interest, as well as the car he used to flee the scene, but have not yet reached probable cause to arrest him, Kenny said.\u00a0<\/p>\n

\u201cWe believe the stabber and the victim did have a prior relationship, which is why he was invited to the party, which is why he was consistently basically annoying her for sex,\u201d the chief added.<\/p>\n

But the victim\u2019s mother, Adra Pegues, 60, told The Daily News<\/a> the two only went on one date \u2013 and her daughter did not want to continue seeing him.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n

\u201cHe wasn\u2019t her type. Some people won\u2019t take no for an answer,\u201d Pegues said. \u201cShe went out on a date and felt, \u2018Oh no, not that one.\u2019\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n

\u201cI don\u2019t have the words for him,\u201d the grieving mom told the paper. \u201cHe was a coward. A weak man. People like that aren\u2019t supposed to be on earth.\u201d<\/p>\n

Between 15 and 20 people \u2013 including Davis\u2019 young son \u2013 were on the scene when she was killed, Kenny said.\u00a0<\/p>\n

\u201cWe have interviewed two or three people that are telling us they saw the incident and did try to apprehend the perp and hold him for police, but the guy kept swinging the knife at the ground,\u201d the chief said.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Davis\u2019 long-time friend, Freddie, told WPIX<\/a> he immediately jumped into action in an attempt to save her.<\/p>\n
