SAN ANTONIO (KTSA News) \u2014 San Antonio International Airport is on the receiving end of around $30 million for improvements to its air traffic control operations.<\/p>\n

The upgrades include new radar and surface-awareness systems, new voice switches and other displays. Electronic flight strips will replace the paper strips now used by controllers to track flights.<\/p>\n

The improvements will help improve communication between the airport and pilots as well as identifying where aircraft are on the tarmac to prevent possible collisions on the ground. These dynamics will aid in managing multiple flights during poor weather conditions.<\/p>\n

The money comes from President Trump\u2019s Working Americans Tax Cut Act, which includes a $12.5 billion investment for upgrades in air traffic control and airport technology approved by Congress.<\/p>\n

All upgrades and improvements at San Antonio International Airport should be completed by the end of 2028, around the time the new Terminal C is set to be finished.<\/p>\n
