Listen, it\u2019s not as though getting an apartment in New York has ever been easy. But one could probably argue it has never been harder than it is right now. The most god-awful studios are regularly renting for thousands and thousands of dollars with lines of interested tenants out the door. Here, we\u2019ll find the actually worth-looking-ats, the actually worth-the-costs, and the surprisingly affordable-for-those-parquet-floors from around the internet.\u00a0<\/p>\n

This week, we\u2019re looking for reasons to forgive the unforgivable (we\u2019re talking about pricing, of course). There\u2019s a $7,500 two-bedroom in Park Slope (but windows everywhere!), a $5,000 one-bedroom in Brooklyn Heights (but behold that parquet!), and a $4,800 one-bedroom in Bed-Stuy (but the stainless-steel countertops!) To offset the painful pricing, I found a truly perfect $3,200 attic apartment in Jackson Heights and two butter-yellow bathrooms.<\/p>\n

$7,500, 2-bedroom:<\/strong><\/a> Scoffable bedroom-to-price ratio, but an almost comical window-to-room ratio to make up for it. They\u2019re everywhere! Good bones, parquet, and location, too.<\/p>\n

$12,500, 4-bedroom:<\/strong><\/a> <\/strong>An objectively lovely townhouse with a very special, fully decked backyard (and another scoffable price point, but this time there are more bedrooms). And I\u2019m not going to comment on the motivational neon \u201clove\u201d light, though I guess I just did?<\/p>\n

$4,750, 1-bedroom:<\/strong><\/a> <\/strong>Just a regular old gorgeous brownstone floor-through with particularly intricate tiling and moldings. Tin ceiling, too. Bathroom\u2019s wackattack, though.<\/p>\n

$3,300, 1-bedroom:<\/strong><\/a> <\/strong>Garden-level brownstone apartment with some rough-around-the-edges charm, including a backyard that could be yours to cultivate.<\/p>\n

$5,000, 1-bedroom:<\/strong><\/a> Gorgeous prewar apartment with a sunken living room, large-format black-and-white tiles in the bathroom, and a toothsome chocolate-brown parquet.<\/p>\n

$4,000, 1-bedroom:<\/strong><\/a> <\/strong>I\u2019m not going to talk about the price because it\u2019s obviously bonkers, but you can\u2019t deny that this place is almost offensively charming with its galley kitchen, paned windows, and decorative fireplace.<\/p>\n

$3,950, studio:<\/strong><\/a> <\/strong>Charming and overpriced studio with \u201cbounteous\u201d closet space, according to the listing, on one of the fruit streets!<\/p>\n

$3,400, studio:<\/strong><\/a> <\/strong>Arguably more charming and slightly less (though still) overpriced studio!<\/p>\n

$5,250, 3-bedroom:<\/strong><\/a> Brownstone duplex with some funky features: the skylight in the kitchen is nice (though somewhat undermined by the crappy linoleum), and I\u2019m strangely charmed by the tiny, rectangular windows in the second bedroom, though they seem more ornamental than illuminating.<\/p>\n

$4,800, 1-bedroom:<\/strong><\/a> <\/strong>Can\u2019t believe the number here, but at least it\u2019s architecturally singular \u2014 renovated with incredible care and a real eye for light, shape, and stainless-steel countertops.<\/p>\n

$3,525, 2-bedroom:<\/strong><\/a> <\/strong>Top-floor brownstone apartment with beautiful golden light views and nearly floor-to-ceiling windows.<\/p>\n

$3,500, 1-bedroom:<\/strong><\/a> For the love of perfect cabinetry and all that is holy!!!!!!!!!! This one\u2019s going to go faster than you can say Scandina \u2026\u2026.<\/p>\n

$3,300, 2-bedroom:<\/strong><\/a> Truly large (or should I say bounteous) prewar apartment \u2014 the second butter-yellow-tiled bathroom today! Must be good luck.<\/p>\n

$3,200, 2-bedroom:<\/strong><\/a> I don\u2019t want to be dramatic, but this is the most perfect attic apartment I\u2019ve ever laid eyes on \u2014 I might be prepared to leave my lovely life, move to Jackson Heights, and start writing my BBC Masterpiece Theatre series here.<\/p>\n

$2,695, 1-bedroom:<\/strong><\/a> <\/strong>Somewhat average but more-than-serviceable one-bedroom with good parquet and some nice, squat, maybe-original windows.<\/p>\n

$2,500, 1-bedroom:<\/strong><\/a> <\/strong>Perfectly passable one-bedroom in an elevator building with laundry on the premises. Most importantly, though, the bathroom is tiled in my favorite shade of butter yellow.<\/p>\n

$2,200, 1-bedroom:<\/strong><\/a> Prewar apartment that\u2019s totally up to snuff, but it\u2019s the Miami Art Deco\u2013ey lobby that really has my heart.<\/p>\n

$1,900, 1-bedroom:<\/strong><\/a> <\/strong>Don\u2019t get spooked by the soft-focus photography; this prewar gem has all the right things going for it (including arched passageways galore), and it\u2019s cheap as\u00a0hell.<\/p>\n
