The district <a href=\"https:\/\/communityimpact.com\/lake-houston-humble-kingwood\/government\/legislators-push-for-lake-houston-dredging-maintenance-district\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">was designed<\/a> to fight flooding and the buildup of sand and sediment in Lake Houston by overseeing dredging operations.<\/p>\n<p><strong>What\u2019s happening?<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Residents are welcome to attend the meeting, according to an <a href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/share\/p\/1jkVoe273n\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Aug. 21 social media post<\/a> from <a href=\"https:\/\/www.houstontx.gov\/council\/e\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Houston City Council member Fred Flickinger<\/a>. Topics planned for the Aug. 24 Lake Houston Dredging and Maintenance District meeting include:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Creating district bylaws<\/li>\n<li>District project scopes, maps, cost, funding plans and milestones<\/li>\n<li>Comment from members of the public<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>The Aug. 24 meeting will be held at 10 a.m. in the Conference Room at 110 W. Main St., Humble, according to the meeting agenda.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Remember this?<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>HB 1532 included an initial $50 million in funding for the district to be paid out in two $25 million installments in 2025 and 2026, as previously reported.<\/p>\n<p>The bill also dictated that Harris County and city of Houston officials would appoint three members each to serve on the district\u2019s board of directors, as previously reported.
