{"id":1016116,"date":"2026-08-22T01:55:16","date_gmt":"2026-08-22T01:55:16","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/1016116\/"},"modified":"2026-08-22T01:55:16","modified_gmt":"2026-08-22T01:55:16","slug":"phoenix-police-release-new-video-of-person-connected-to-2018-cold-case-homicide","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/1016116\/","title":{"rendered":"Phoenix Police release new video of person connected to 2018 cold case homicide"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"text | article-text text-start\"><b>PHOENIX (AZFamily)<\/b> \u2014 Phoenix Police have released newly public surveillance video of a person connected to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.azfamily.com\/2022\/07\/22\/family-still-looking-answers-4-years-after-deadly-shooting-phoenix\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" title=\"https:\/\/www.azfamily.com\/2022\/07\/22\/family-still-looking-answers-4-years-after-deadly-shooting-phoenix\/\">the 2018 killing of Matthew Groves<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text text-start\">Police said the person seen in the video may have information about Groves\u2019 shooting death near 51st Avenue and Indian School Road on July 21, 2018.<\/p>\n<p>WATCH THE VIDEO IN THE WINDOW AT THE TOP OF THIS STORY<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text text-start\">Police said there was a brief struggle between Groves and an unknown man when Groves was shot. Groves died at the hospital.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text text-start\">The video shows a man wearing a dark T-shirt and jeans about 20 minutes before the shooting.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text text-start\">Anyone who could identify the person in the video is asked to call the Phoenix Police Department or Silent Witness at (480)WITNESS, or for Spanish, (480)TESTIGO.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text text-start\">Groves\u2019 mother told Arizona\u2019s Family in 2022 that the family has been heartbroken since the shooting, but they were also angry that whoever killed her son hasn\u2019t been held accountable.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text text-start\">Phoenix Police arrested a suspect in 2018; however, the Maricopa County Attorney\u2019s Office dropped the charges, claiming there wasn\u2019t enough evidence to convict that person.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text text-start\">See a spelling or grammatical error in our story? <a href=\"https:\/\/www.azfamily.com\/page\/send-us-your-feedback\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Please click here to report it<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text text-start\">Do you have a photo or video of a breaking news story?
