Geno Smith<\/a>\u00a0had his first preseason action of the summer and the Jets’ first team defense played into the second quarter during their preseason 17-0 victory in Pittsburgh.<\/p>\n

It was Smith’s first appearance as a Jet in 9 years, 302 days. While he only played one series, Smith was perfect (7-of-7 passing, 65 yards), leading the Jets to an opening drive touchdown. With two defenders in his face, Smith rolled left and found TE Jelani Woods<\/a> who ran into the end zone for the 13-yard score.<\/p>\n

The Jets added to the lead in the fourth quarter when Jason Sanders<\/a> converted on a 38-yard field-goal attempt and WR Quincy Skinner Jr.<\/a>\u00a0had a late TD catch.<\/p>\n

At the start of the second quarter the Steelers were driving into the red zone but S Andre Cisco intercepted QB Will Howard’s look to Roman Wilson at the Jets’ 8-yard line.<\/p>\n
