Here&#8217;s what we know"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.mysanantonio.com\/business\/article\/hobby-lobby-tap-to-pay-21349719.php\" data-link=\"native\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\" target=\"_blank\" class=\"\">Rumors that Hobby Lobby<\/a> is closing its stores have once again circulated on social media, leaving some shoppers wondering whether the popular arts and crafts retailer is preparing to shut down.<\/p>\n<p>Hobby Lobby has faced <a href=\"https:\/\/newsroom.hobbylobby.com\/articles\/social-media-rumor-dispelled\/\" data-link=\"native\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\" target=\"_blank\" class=\"\">similar rumors in the past<\/a>. In 2017, social media posts claimed founder and CEO David Green had decided to close all Hobby Lobby stores. The company pushed back on the claims, saying the rumors were false and that it was continuing to grow. At the time, Hobby Lobby announced plans to open 50 new stores in 2017, with additional expansion planned in the years ahead.<\/p>\n<p>The retailer has also been the subject of misinformation in more recent years. A <a href=\"https:\/\/www.newsweek.com\/2023\/09\/22\/how-tiktok-became-hotbed-brand-misinformation-1825711.html\" data-link=\"native\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\" target=\"_blank\" class=\"\">2023 analysis from Newsweek<\/a> identified Hobby Lobby among several major brands targeted by misinformation on social media platforms. The analysis found that brands were often the subject of political criticism, boycotts and unsubstantiated claims online.<\/p>\n<p>Locally, there is also a recent development that appears to contradict claims that Hobby Lobby is disappearing from the area. A new Hobby Lobby opened in Seguin, giving shoppers another location in the Texas Hill Country.
