The announcement surfaced on social media Friday, Aug. 21, with a simple notice posted to the door of the restaurant: \u201cWe regret to inform you that La Bamba is permanently closed for business.\u201d<\/p>\n
Located in the heart of Louisville\u2019s most popular restaurant and nightlife district, La Bamba served as a culinary rite of passage for generations of locals, college students, and late-night bar patrons. <\/p>\n
Celebrated for its affordable, fast, and massive hand-held burritos, the spot was a fixture of Bardstown Road\u2019s distinct nightlife.<\/p>\n
Tributes immediately poured in across local social media platforms as residents mourned the loss of a neighborhood icon. <\/p>\n
\u201cI feel like I just lost something so personal,\u201d one local patron commented online. \u201cI\u2019ll never forget when they were actually on Bonnycastle.\u201d<\/p>\n
