(Remember though, that Russo Brothers title is getting a reissue in September). Endgame at $2.7 billion worldwide remains Tom Holland\u2019s top-grossing movie.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto     \">\n\tWhat a difference a year makes: A year ago, Sony had the adult-skewing Darren Aronofsky caper Caught Stealing, which unfortunately didn\u2019t find an audience. Muy bien. The only movie in the bunch to open at less than $20M was the original 2010 title, which began with $13.2M stateside. Insidious 6 gets a C+, just like its previous chapter, Red Door. The best grades in the franchise belong to Insidious 2 and 3 with a B+. <\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto     \">\n\tThese pics have a fast burn; the highest domestic ever for one of \u2019em was Insidious 2 at $83.5M, followed by the last film, Red Door, with $82.1M. Sony has a great history of programming a horror film in the late August period (remember 2016\u2019s Don\u2019t Breathe which opened to $26.4M and ended its states run at $89.4M?). <\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto     \">\n\tAnd women are the big draw here at 57% to guys\u2019 43%. Women also have an alright definite recommend at 58% with women under 25 better at 62%. Broken out, the Jacob Chase directed movie pulled in women over 25 (33%),  guys over 25 (26%), women under 25 (24%) and men under 25 (17%). <\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto     \">\n\tInsidious 6 played best in the South Central and West where 46% of the gross is currently coming from vs a norm of 38% for all other titles in the marketplace.\u00a0AMC Burbank is the top grossing venue with close to $34K so far. Latino and Hispanic moviegoers led the charge at 42% here, followed by 26% Caucasian, 16% Black and 9% Asian American. <\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto     \">\n\tPre-release social media metrics were great on Insidious 6 with a social media universe at 282.2M across TikTok, Facebook, Instagram, X and YouTube. That\u2019s higher than 2023\u2019s Insidious: Red Door, which counted north of 182M followers before its North American opening. Out of the Further\u2018s social media universe is also ahead of Sony\u2019s January horror release 28 Years Later: The Bone Temple (195M followers).<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto     \">\n\tUniversal\u2019s <strong>The Odyssey<\/strong> doesn\u2019t need any blessings from the gods, just from Imax, as it\u2019s holding in with a <strong>$18.5M<\/strong> sixth frame at 3,091 screens, down 22%, with a running total by Sunday of <strong>$538M<\/strong>. As we have reporting, Odyssey and Brand New Day are splitting Imax, while PLFs are between Insidious 6 (repping 26% of the weekend\u2019s gross) and Spidey. End of Oak Street is rated PG-13. My sources tell me that Lionsgate took U.S. for around $15M before P&amp;A. The movie\u2019s start is above Statham\u2019s early 2026 title Shelter, which bowed to $5.5M, and just ahead of Crank 2\u2018s $6.9M opening in 2009. Mutiny gets at B+ CinemaScore, the same as Shelter and his January hit from a few years ago, The Beekeeper. It\u2019s clear, Statham fans don\u2019t hate watch his movies. <\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto     \">\n\tSixty-four percent were over 35 with 25-34 being the largest group for Mutiny at 24%. Diversity demos were 43% Caucasian, 20% Latino and Hispanic, 20% Black, 10% Asian American and 7% Native American and other. <\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto     \">\n\tMutiny played evenly throughout the U.S. though best in South, South Central and West. It\u2019s older skewing with 51% over 45 with the few showing up being women at 84%. Those who showed up didn\u2019t entirely hate it at a B+. Diversity demos were 45% Caucasian, 25% Latino and Hispanic, 15% Black, 10% Native American and other, and 5% Asian American. <\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto     \">\n\tWhen it comes to Black Bear\u2019s first year stateside, it\u2019s clear, they\u2019re still finding their sea legs. Given the possible Paramount-Warner Bros merger, we need more capital players like Black Bear to succeed, not fall short. Remember that theater owners before you book a big studio movie that\u2019s poised to tank. The story that\u2019s not told often enough is that exhibitors, who scream for product, will push out a movie that\u2019s doing well in an auditorium for the next shiny object (this isn\u2019t new, it\u2019s quite common, and the ones getting the short-end of the stick are non-major studio players). Black Bear has Matthew McConaughey comeback movie, <strong>Rivals of Amziah King<\/strong> in its second weekend; that pic rang up an estimated $295K, -71%, with a running total of $1.8M at 465 (-167) theaters. Not to mention the specialty houses and moms and pops that use to hold these types of titles, like Amziah King, are no longer post Covid. I\u2019m told, many of the theaters that played McConaughey\u2019s Mud back in 2013 ($2.2M opening, $21.5M domestic final) are gone due to Covid. In L.A., we can make sense of that with Landmark on Pico being shuttered and the Cinerama Dome\/Hollywood Arclight still offline. <\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto     \">\n\tAll in the weekend looks to be brining in $126.5M, and let\u2019s savor that. Another $100M+ weekend for all titles in 2026. Previews began at 2 p.m.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto     \">\n\tThe outlook for the weekend, as we told you in what\u2019s expected to be a one-two punch from Sony, is <strong>$23M-$27M <\/strong>at 3,303 theaters<strong>.<\/strong> The Culver City lot also has the fourth weekend of <strong>Spider-Man: Brand New Day<\/strong>. which is expected to do around <strong>$35M<\/strong> and take the No. 1 spot in the charts again.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto     \">\n\tThe Tom Holland-Zendaya Spidey movie ended its third week with <strong>$100.1M<\/strong> at 4,539 theaters, which is more than Avengers: Endgame\u2018s third week ($80.9M) but behind Star Wars: Force Awakens\u2019 third week ($118.4M). Running cume for Brand New Day is <strong>$815.9M<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto     \">\n\tOut of the Further\u2018s less-than-franchise-record start is to be expected: The Jacob Chase-directed and -written feature is a spinoff, with the only core series thespian in the pic being Lin Shaye. Pic follows Gemma, a young mother raising her daughter in the house she grew up in, who discovers she can travel into The Further, where she possesses an ability to bring what lives there back to the real world. Critics aren\u2019t wild that they sat through Out of the Further at 58% Rotten on Rotten Tomatoes; no audience score yet. Note that\u2019s better than previous chapter, Red Door, at 40%. The best reviews for an Insidious movie goes to the first one in 2010 at 60% fresh.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto     \">\n\tLionsgate\u2019s Jason Statham-starring R-rated feature <strong>Mutiny<\/strong> did <strong>$700,000<\/strong> in previews that began at 5 p.m. Thursday. The pic is directed by Plane filmmaker Jean-Fran\u00e7ois Richet, who delivered Lionsgate that Gerard Butler cash cow: that 2023 pic opened to $10.2M, ended its domestic run at $32.1M and made $74.5M worldwide. Weekend estimate for Muntiny is in the<strong> single-digit millions <\/strong>at 2,703 theaters<strong>.<\/strong> Critics wanted to throw a mutiny at the theater while watching the movie with a 48% Rotten Tomatoes grade.
