{"id":1017525,"date":"2026-08-22T18:17:25","date_gmt":"2026-08-22T18:17:25","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/1017525\/"},"modified":"2026-08-22T18:17:25","modified_gmt":"2026-08-22T18:17:25","slug":"george-lucas-and-mellody-hobson-will-host-a-star-studded-opening-night-celebration-at-lucas-museum-ahead-of-the-museums-public-debut-this-september","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/1017525\/","title":{"rendered":"George Lucas and Mellody Hobson will host a star-studded opening night celebration at Lucas Museum ahead of the museum\u2019s public debut this September"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">One of Los Angeles\u2019s most anticipated cultural institutions is nearly ready to welcome its <a href=\"https:\/\/secretlosangeles.com\/lucas-museum-rooftop-skywalker-grill-reservations\/\" rel=\"follow nofollow noopener\" target=\"_self\" class=\"shortcode-outbound-link\" data-has-ga=\"true\" data-ga-type=\"click\" data-label=\"https:\/\/secretlosangeles.com\/lucas-museum-rooftop-skywalker-grill-reservations\/\" data-action=\"text_cta_0\" data-category=\"click_internal\">first visitors. <\/a><\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The <strong>Lucas Museum of Narrative Art<\/strong> will hold its official Opening Night Celebration on <strong>Saturday, September 19, 2026<\/strong>, hosted by co-founders <strong>George Lucas and Mellody Hobson<\/strong> at One Lucas Plaza in Exposition Park, South Los Angeles.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The evening will be co-chaired by an expansive roster of artists, filmmakers, and public figures: <strong>Julie Bell, Tom Cruise, Guillermo del Toro, Greta Gerwig, Sir Lewis Hamilton, Jensen Huang, JR, Steven Spielberg, and Pharrell Williams<\/strong>. <\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Guests will receive an intimate first look at the museum three days before it opens to the general public on <strong>September 22<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The Lucas Museum was designed by architect <strong>Ma Yansong of MAD<\/strong> and spans a <strong>13-acre campus<\/strong> that includes new green space conceived by landscape architect <strong>Mia Lehrer<\/strong> and her team at Studio-MLA. <\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Inside, more than <strong>30 galleries<\/strong> trace the arc of visual storytelling across human history \u2014 from prehistoric cave paintings and ancient sculpture to comics, illustration, photography, murals, and film. The building also houses two cinematic theatres alongside dedicated spaces for learning, dining, retail, and events.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The museum announced a new initiative\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/lucasmuseum.org\/lm37\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" class=\"shortcode-outbound-link\" data-has-ga=\"true\" data-ga-type=\"click\" data-label=\"https:\/\/lucasmuseum.org\/lm37\" data-action=\"text_cta_4\" data-category=\"click_non_sales\">called LM37,<\/a>\u00a0a free admission program created<strong>\u00a0exclusively for residents of the 90037 ZIP code,\u00a0<\/strong>home to the museum in\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/secretlosangeles.com\/los-angeles-natural-history-museum-dinosaur-hall\/\" rel=\"follow nofollow noopener\" target=\"_self\" class=\"shortcode-outbound-link\" data-has-ga=\"true\" data-ga-type=\"click\" data-label=\"https:\/\/secretlosangeles.com\/los-angeles-natural-history-museum-dinosaur-hall\/\" data-action=\"text_cta_5\" data-category=\"click_internal\">Exposition Park.<\/a><\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Registration for the LM37 pass will open in August,<\/strong>\u00a0and eligible\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/lucasmuseum.org\/lm37\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\" class=\"shortcode-outbound-link\" data-has-ga=\"true\" data-ga-type=\"click\" data-label=\"https:\/\/lucasmuseum.org\/lm37\" data-action=\"text_cta_6\" data-category=\"click_non_sales\">residents can sign up<\/a>\u00a0for updates through the museum\u2019s website to be notified when applications become available.
