A longtime Fort Worth<\/strong> entertainment venue is preparing to close its gates, giving moviegoers a final opportunity to experience Coyote Drive-In<\/strong> before its 14-year run comes to an end.<\/p>\n

The drive-in will operate<\/a> through Labor Day, with its last movie scheduled for Monday, September 7<\/strong>. Coyote Drive-In opened in 2012 and became a destination for families and movie fans looking for an outdoor alternative to traditional theaters.<\/p>\n

Planned Construction Will End Drive-In\u2019s Run<\/p>\n

The theater\u2019s closure is connected to planned development on the property as part of Fort Worth\u2019s Trinity River Vision project.<\/p>\n

The Tarrant Regional Water District plans to begin construction this fall on two canals and a three-acre park at the site. Under the terms of Coyote Drive-In\u2019s lease, the district had the right to end the agreement when construction on the project was set to begin.<\/strong><\/p>\n

The water district has now exercised that provision, bringing the drive-in\u2019s run at the location to an end.<\/p>\n

Coyote Drive-In Reflects On Its Legacy<\/p>\n

Glenn Solomon, managing partner of Coyote Drive-In Fort Worth, said the venue was created with the goal of providing a place where people could gather and spend time together.<\/p>\n

Besides screening movies, Coyote has also served<\/a> as a meeting space for corporate events, birthday parties, and other special occasions under its covered outdoor cantina.\u00a0 The pet-friendly 20-acre venue includes a children\u2019s playground, a variety of outdoor games for all to enjoy, live music on weekends, and a canteen offering fresh-made pizzas, cheeseburgers hot off the grill, Wagyu sliders, gourmet popcorn, alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages, and much more.<\/p>\n

Solomon expressed<\/a> gratitude to the hundreds of thousands of people who visited the drive-in over the years, as well as its employees, business partners, and supporters throughout the Fort Worth area.<\/p>\n

The theater also credited General Manager Chris Fortune, who has worked at Coyote Drive-In since its opening. Solomon described Fortune as an important part of the venue\u2019s history and credited his leadership with helping establish the drive-in as a community destination.<\/p>\n
