US multimedia giant Paramount<\/a> slammed Hollywood actor Mark Ruffalo<\/a> for invoking antisemitic tropes in an Instagram post on Friday in which he accused Israel of genocide and apartheid.<\/p>\n

The outspoken anti-Israel ACTOR, known for his roles in the Avengers films, accused Paramount moguls David and Larry Ellison of \u201cpowering some of the most destructive and inhuman forces in the world\u201d and warned of the danger of David Ellison\u2019s bid to combine Paramount with Warner Bros. Discovery.<\/p>\n

A spokesperson for Paramount said the company is \u201ctroubled when antisemitic tropes are invoked in purported service of a business dispute. Words like \u2018genocide\u2019 and \u2018apartheid,\u2019 applied to a corporate transaction, aren\u2019t just wrong \u2013 they\u2019re a bridge too far, and they cheapen the very real suffering those words are meant to describe. This doesn\u2019t deserve a response in kind \u2013 and to be clear, we don\u2019t tolerate prejudice of any kind, against anyone.\u201d<\/p>\n

In his post, Ruffalo referred to Larry Ellison<\/a> as a \u201cclassic oligarch,\u201d and he shared a video of Safra Catz, vice chair of Oracle, discussing the technological assistance the company provided to Israel following the Hamas-led October 7 attack<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Ruffalo encouraged his followers to \u201clook how she revels in what we now have come to see as a genocide, which was built on an apartheid system of oppression powered by Oracle.\u201d<\/p>\n

Ruffalo described Oracle as a company that \u201cLarry Ellison uses to fund the purchase of Warner Brothers by his son David.\u201d He then said its technologies \u201cwill probably be merged into one of the largest media corporations in the world, and one day be used against you.\u201d<\/p>\n

Paramount urged those involved to \u201clower the temperature, not raise it,\u201d and said Ruffalo\u2019s remarks \u201cexpose the true motive of some of those who have acted against the deal.\u201d<\/p>\n

The studio also stressed that it would not blacklist creators who oppose the merger.<\/p>\n

\u201cOur commitment to excellent content matches our commitment to acceptance, for every story, every storyteller, with no blacklists and no exceptions,\u201d a spokesperson stated.<\/p>\n

Ruffalo has opposed the merger for months, arguing that it would harm thousands of Hollywood workers.<\/p>\n

The latest dispute follows years of anti-Israel statements by Ruffalo. During a September 2025 interview on journalist Mehdi Hasan\u2019s podcast, he called for the \u201cboycott, divestment, sanctions, and prosecution\u201d of Israel and spoke extensively about the war in Gaza.<\/p>\n

A clip from the interview resurfaced in July, in which Ruffalo discussed his relationships with Jewish actors who support Israel.
