We hit 100\u00b0 again on Saturday afternoon, marking the third time this week and the fourth time this summer that Houston has reached the century mark. More triple-digit temperatures are in the forecast. Combined with Houston\u2019s humidity, afternoon heat index values will climb to between 108\u00b0 and 112\u00b0. The current Heat Advisory runs through Sunday evening, and I expect it will likely be extended through the early week and as this dangerous heat wave continues.<\/p>\n
Heat Advisory Until 7pm SundayTriple-digit heat:<\/b><\/p>\n
Saturday should another 100\u00b0 high in Houston. That will make four days of triple digit heat in Houston this year. Last year we had 8 100\u00b0 days in Houston. The all-time record is 46 from 2011. <\/p>\n
Triple Digit HeatStorms Firing off North of Houston Saturday: <\/b><\/p>\n
A frontal boundary in north Texas will send an outflow toward Houston. It looks to me like it will struggle to stay together and bring meaningful rain to southeast Texas. Our best chance of showers will be in our far northern cities Saturday and Sunday. <\/p>\n

The heat is courtesy of a strong ridge of high pressure. This ridge is bringing sinking air into Houston, and as that air sinks, it gets compressed and heats up.<\/p>\n
This pattern shows no signs of letting up through the weekend. While there is a small chance of rain Saturday, it\u2019s not enough of a change in the overall weather pattern to bring temperatures down in any meaningful way.<\/p>\n
In other words, the heat is here to stay.<\/p>\n

Tracking the tropics:<\/b><\/p>\n
Three areas of concerns in the Atlantic Basin. One headed closer to Europe which has no real tropical characteristics. Another one sitting in the center of the Atlantic and one just off the coast of Africa that now has a 40% chance of development. <\/p>\n

We\u2019re in the hottest stretch of the summer right now.<\/p>\n
There is a small chance of rain, but it won\u2019t affect temperatures. The strong ridge of high pressure finally begins to break down in the middle of next week, but as you can see temperatures won\u2019t drop very much.<\/p>\n
The heat may ease a bit, but summer isn\u2019t giving up just yet.<\/p>\n
