Southern California is bracing for another stretch of intense heat, with triple-digit temperatures expected in some inland areas and forecasters warning that conditions could become even hotter next week.<\/p>\n
A heat advisory is in effect through Monday for parts of Orange County, the Inland Empire and the San Bernardino and Riverside County mountains.<\/p>\n
The National Weather Service (NWS) said a combination of high daytime temperatures, warm nights and monsoonal moisture will make conditions particularly uncomfortable.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe combination of hot daytime temperatures, warm overnight lows and some monsoonal moisture at mid to upper levels will continue to feel uncomfortably warm,\u201d said NWS.<\/p>\n
According to NBC4 meteorologist Shannah Mendiola, temperatures will remain high through the weekend before climbing further Tuesday through Thursday.<\/p>\n
Downtown Los Angeles is expected to reach the lower 90s this weekend, with temperatures climbing into the mid-90s next week.<\/p>\n
\u201cTemperatures in the lower 90s in downtown, 91 today, 93 for Sunday, and then we keep the climb going as we head to Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, with 96 on the way,\u201d Mendiola said.<\/p>\n
If Los Angeles reaches the 90s, inland communities could experience temperatures in the triple digits.<\/p>\n
The coast will offer some relief, although temperatures there will still be warmer than average, with highs generally in the 80s. Inland communities and parts of the Los Angeles Basin will see temperatures ranging from the 90s to triple digits.<\/p>\n
Anaheim is expected to reach 95 degrees, while Irvine is forecast to hit 92. Oxnard and Ventura are expected to reach about 81 degrees.<\/p>\n
The Inland Empire is expected to see triple-digit temperatures throughout the week, with sunny and hot conditions persisting as a ridge of high pressure remains over the region.<\/p>\n
Mendiola said the deserts will face some of the most extreme conditions. An extreme heat warning is in effect for the low desert, and Palm Springs is expected to experience triple-digit temperatures through Friday, Mendiola explained.<\/p>\n
The prolonged heat could increase the risk of heat-related illnesses, particularly in desert and inland communities.<\/p>\n
