ST. LOUIS (Aug. 22, 2026) \u2013<\/strong>\u00a0Houston Dynamo FC<\/strong>\u00a0fell 2-1 on the road to St. Louis CITY SC on Saturday night after a hard-fought match at Energizer Park. Forward\u00a0Aliyu<\/strong>\u00a0Ibrahim<\/strong>\u00a0was Houston’s goalscorer, and the result brought to an end the team’s eight-match unbeaten streak.<\/p>\n

Despite the result, Houston remains top-two in the Western Conference and is 10-3-2 (WLD) over the past 15 matches for 32 points. Tonight also marked the end of an impressive 485-minute shutout streak, the second-longest run over the last decade for the Dynamo. Additionally, coming into tonight\u2019s match, Houston tied a league record with five consecutive shutout victories.<\/p>\n

The match saw defender\u00a0Marcelo<\/strong>\u00a0Saracchi<\/strong>\u00a0make his first start in orange after the Dynamo the veteran Uruguayan\u00a0joined the Dynamo<\/a>\u00a0on a full transfer from CA Boca Juniors earlier this month. Saracchi made his Dynamo debut on Wednesday night, when Houston\u00a0defeated<\/a>\u00a0Vancouver Whitecaps FC 1-0.<\/p>\n

Additionally, forward\u00a0Lawrence<\/strong>\u00a0Ennali<\/strong>\u00a0and midfielder\u00a0Jack<\/strong>\u00a0McGlynn<\/strong>\u00a0made their 50th\u00a0Dynamo appearances during tonight\u2019s match.<\/p>\n

St. Louis took the lead in the 23rd\u00a0minute when Simon Becher received a pass from Alexandru M\u0103tan inside the box and found the back of the net with a right-footed shot.\u00a0<\/p>\n

The Dynamo leveled the match in the 75th\u00a0minute after Ibrahim capitalized on a rebound for his second goal of the season. The play began with Ennali beating his defender on the right flank and dribbling into the box before finding attacking midfielder\u00a0Mateusz<\/strong>\u00a0Bogusz<\/strong>\u00a0in the center. Bogusz’s right-footed shot was denied by St. Louis goalkeeper Roman Burki, but the rebound fell to Ibrahim, who finished from close range.<\/p>\n

CITY retook the lead in the 85th\u00a0minute when Dante Polvara fired a left-footed shot into the left side of the net from inside the box.<\/p>\n

The Dynamo generated their first dangerous chance in the 11th\u00a0minute when McGlynn, from the right flank, delivered a deadly cross to Bogusz at the back post, but his header missed the near post by inches.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Three minutes later, Bogusz attacked again, this time with a powerful right-footed strike from outside the box that struck the crossbar.<\/p>\n

After a block shot fell to McGlynn on the edge of the box in the 30th minute, the U.S. Men\u2019s national team midfielder took a swipe with his magical left foot, forcing an outstretched save at the top corner of the frame from Burki.<\/p>\n

Houston nearly found the scoring sheet a minute later when a McGlynn corner found defender\u00a0AgustinResch<\/strong>, whose header in the middle of the box forced a diving save from Burki.<\/p>\n

Goalkeeper\u00a0Jonathan<\/strong>\u00a0Bond<\/strong>\u00a0was called into action in the 55th\u00a0minute, with the Englishman sanding his ground to safely secure Dante Polvara’s long-range shot. The shot stopper finished the night with two saves.<\/p>\n

The Dynamo thought they had leveled the match in the 66th\u00a0minute with a combination play between McGlynn and Bogusz. McGlynn played the Polish attacker in behind the backline and into the box, where Bogusz found the far post. However, Bogusz was deemed to be\u00a0offside on\u00a0the play after a VAR review.<\/p>\n

Houston returns to Shell Energy Stadium to host the San Jose Earthquakes for\u00a0Kick Cancer Night<\/strong>, presented by\u00a0UT MD Anderson<\/strong>, on Saturday, Aug. 29, with kickoff set for 7:30 p.m. CT.
