Rose McGowan lashed out at child stardom in a heartfelt social media post following the death of fellow \u201cScream\u201d franchise star<\/a> Hayden Panettiere. <\/p>\n

\u201cRest in Power,\u201d the \u201cJawbreaker\u201d star wrote Friday atop an Instagram video<\/a> dedicated to Panettiere and featuring a clip of the ocean.<\/p>\n

\u201cDon\u2019t put kids in show business,\u201d the actress added. \u201cNone of this is normal. May her spirit be free of those who orchestrated.\u201d<\/p>\n

Though Panettiere and McGowan didn\u2019t appear in the same film, both starred in separate installment of the classic horror franchise \u201cScream,\u201d with McGowan appearing in the 1996 original Wes Craven film and Panettiere appearing in both 2011\u2019s \u201cScream 4\u201d and 2023\u2019s \u201cScream VI.\u201d<\/p>\n

Panettiere, who starred in commercials as a baby, began her full-time acting career at the age of 4 in \u201cOne Life to Live\u201d and went on to become a household name as a teen in \u201cHeroes.\u201d<\/p>\n

In the comments thread, some followers agreed with the \u201cCharmed\u201d star\u2019s sentiment. \u201cExactly. Hayden was just a child when she entered this world, and she should never have been expected to bear the consequences of decisions she couldn\u2019t comprehend,\u201d one person wrote. <\/p>\n

\u201cThere needs to be something done. It has been happening for far too long,\u201d another chimed in, while a third remarked, \u201cKids don\u2019t belong to show business.. too many sad stories, well said\u2026 \ud83d\udc94\u201d<\/p>\n

McGowan, 52, famously became a prominent advocate for young women in the entertainment industry after her claims against Harvey Weinstein<\/a> became a flashpoint in the #MeToo movement.<\/p>\n

She\u2019s not the first actress to speak out since the \u201cNashville\u201d star died on Sunday.<\/p>\n

Disney Channel alum Alexa PenaVega, 37, also paid tribute to Panettiere, Michelle Trachtenberg<\/a> and Daveigh Chase<\/a>\u00a0following Panettiere\u2019s death, urging fans<\/a> to \u201chug your people close today.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cThese aren\u2019t just names from my childhood. They\u2019re girls I grew up alongside, sharing a world that was exciting and also incredibly hard,\u201d PenaVega wrote via Instagram on Tuesday. <\/p>\n

Anna Paquin \u2014 who won an Oscar at the age of 11 for her performance in \u201cThe Piano\u201d and, coincidentally, appeared in a very minor role in \u201cScream 4\u201d \u2014 spoke out via social media<\/a>, as well.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt\u2019s not a coincidence that so many former, specifically pre-sexualized female, child \u2018stars\u2019 have profoundly sad lives and untimely ends,\u201d the actress, 44, wrote via Instagram on Friday. <\/p>\n

\u201cWe were not as protected by the \u2018systems\u2019 that look great on paper, as we are supposed to be.\u201d<\/p>\n

The \u201cX Men\u201d star also referenced Trachtenberg and Chase in the upload as being part of a \u201cstrange, small club.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cYou are worthy of support, no matter how our industry made us feel,\u201d she wrote. \u201cI believe you, and I will stand by your side.\u201d<\/p>\n

Panettiere was found unresponsive at an Airbnb in Greenville, South Carolina, on Sunday afternoon, with her on-again, off-again boyfriend Brian Hickerson and his brother, Zach Hickerson, present.<\/p>\n

911 dispatch audio referred to a suspected \u201coverdose.\u201d<\/a> The \u201cRemember the Titans\u201d star was pronounced dead by first responders after they administered \u201cadvanced cardiac life support.\u201d She was 36.<\/p>\n

Her family confirmed her death in a statement the same day, labeling the late actress an \u201cincredible light and a force of nature.\u201d <\/p>\n
