An NFL employee is among the wounded in Monday\u2019s deadly shooting inside a Midtown skyscraper<\/a> that housed the league\u2019s offices.\u00a0<\/p>\n

NFL commissioner Roger Goodell told league staffers in a letter, viewed by The Post, Monday night, that one of their own had been \u201cseriously injured\u201d in the shooting at 345 Park Avenue that took the lives of an off-duty NYPD officer <\/a>and three others.\u00a0<\/p>\n

\u201cHe is currently in the hospital and in stable condition. NFL staff are at the hospital and we are supporting his family,\u201d Goodell wrote in the message, while assuring league staff that \u201call of our employees are otherwise safe and accounted for.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n

Mayhem erupted in Midtown when a rifle-wielding gunman, who police identified as Shane Tamura, walked into the 44-story office building that houses the NFL\u2019s offices, along with Blackstone and other businesses and killed four people before he took his own life.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Officials have not identified three of the victims, but released the name of the fallen NYPD officer during a late-night news conference as 36-year-old Didarul Islam.\u00a0<\/p>\n

In his letter to NFL employees, Goodell praised law enforcement\u2019s quick response and the heroism of Officer Islam.\u00a0<\/p>\n

\u201cWe are deeply grateful to the law enforcement officers who responded to this threat quickly and decisively and to Officer Islam, who gave his life to protect others,\u201d he wrote.\u00a0<\/p>\n

The NFL offices occupy floors five through eight inside the Midtown building.\u00a0<\/p>\n

NFL employees had been told to shelter in place when the chaos began, ESPN reported.\u00a0<\/a><\/p>\n

City officials detailed the harrowing events that unfolded Monday evening at 345 Park Avenue during a press conference.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Tamura, a 27-year-old Las Vegas resident, walked into the building at 6:30 p.m. armed with a rifle and began shooting in the lobby.\u00a0<\/p>\n

He made his way to the 33rd floor, where he eventually took his own life.\u00a0<\/p>\n

New York City Mayor Eric Adams and NYPD Commissioner Jessica Tisch were both visibly shaken during the press conference.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Adams had told reporters that one man had been seriously injured and was in critical condition and four others had suffered minor injuries as they fled.\u00a0<\/p>\n

No motive for the shooting is known, but it was noted that he had a \u201cdocumented mental health history.\u201d<\/a><\/p>\n

\u201cHis motives are still under investigation.
