{"id":1019487,"date":"2026-08-23T18:25:12","date_gmt":"2026-08-23T18:25:12","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/1019487\/"},"modified":"2026-08-23T18:25:12","modified_gmt":"2026-08-23T18:25:12","slug":"buses-to-replace-septa-trolleys-for-4-upcoming-weekends","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/1019487\/","title":{"rendered":"Buses to replace SEPTA trolleys for 4 upcoming weekends"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Buses will replace trolleys on SEPTA\u2019s <a href=\"https:\/\/www.septa.org\/schedules\/T?directionId=0&amp;date=2026-08-23\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\">T routes<\/a> for four of the next five weekends, and riders will need to use the L, or Market-Frankford Line, to access Center City.<\/p>\n<p>The underground trolley tunnel will close at 2 a.m. on Saturday, Aug. 29. Passengers will begin boarding buses from then until at least 5 a.m. Monday, Aug. 31, according to SEPTA. During the busing period, the T routes, formerly known as the 10, 34, 13, 11 and 36, will be diverted to 40th and Market streets. Some trips on the T4 and T5 will continue busing through the afternoon hours on Monday, dropping riders at the 40th Street Portal, transit officials said.<\/p>\n<p>Buses will stop at the same street-level locations and follow the same path as when the tunnel is closed for maintenance.<\/p>\n<p>SEPTA stated that the process will be repeated on the weekends beginning Sept. 12, Sept. 19 and Sept. 26, and advised passengers to \u201callow for extra travel time.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Crews will be fixing an electrical substation at 33rd Street that \u201cexperienced water intrusion in recent weeks that makes these repairs necessary to avoid potential unplanned outages,\u201d according to <a href=\"https:\/\/wwww.septa.org\/news\/t-shuttle-bus\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\">a post on the authority\u2019s website<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>SEPTA previously <a href=\"https:\/\/metrophiladelphia.com\/stories\/septa-philly-transit-tunnel-overnight-service,141005?\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">shut down the trolley tunnel<\/a> for roughly two months due to <a href=\"https:\/\/metrophiladelphia.com\/stories\/septa-trolley-tunnel-closure,119826?\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">damage to the overhead catenary system<\/a>.
