A man is in critical condition after he was hit by a car in Phoenix, the city’s police department said.<\/p>\n
On Aug. 22 around 11 p.m., officers were sent to a crash scene involving a pedestrian near 28th and Peoria avenues. As emergency crews arrived, they found a 53-year-old man with life\u2011threatening injuries.\u00a0<\/p>\n
Police said he was taken to the hospital in extremely critical condition. His identity was not yet released.<\/p>\n
Authorities said the driver fled the scene at first, then he returned a few minutes later. Officers spoke with him; officials said they saw signs of impairment.\u00a0<\/p>\n
During an initial investigation, police determined the pedestrian was arguing with a woman before the crash. Police said witnesses were reportedly chasing the pedestrian when he allegedly ran into the roadway and was struck by the vehicle.<\/p>\n
The investigation into the incident is ongoing.<\/p>\n
