The daughter of a prominent rabbi whose Manhattan synagogue<\/a> was swarmed by vile anti-Israel and antisemitic protesters<\/a> last fall accused Mayor Zohran Mamdani of fueling \u201cJewish hatred\u201d in New York City.<\/p>\n

Karen Schneier Dresbach \u2014 who is executive vice president of the multi-faith Appeal of Conscience Foundation as well as the daughter of Rabbi Arthur Schneier of Park East Synagogue \u2014 said she believes some Jews who voted for Mamdani are having \u201cbuyer\u2019s remorse.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cWhen you have a mayor of the city of New York, who continues to spew rhetoric \u2026 this just fuels Jewish hatred in our city,\u201d Schneier Dresbach said Sunday on 770 WABC\u2019s the \u201cCats Roundtable\u201d program.<\/p>\n

Mamdani is a staunch critic of Israel. <\/p>\n

He supports the Boycott, Divestment, and Sanctions movement against the country, refuses to recognize it as a Jewish state and has urged New Yorkers to protest Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu\u2019s visit to Manhattan next month during the United Nations General Assembly, accusing him of being a war criminal.<\/a><\/p>\n

She claimed Jews who voted for Mamdani have learned a harsh lesson.<\/p>\n

\u201cTo Jews who voted socialist and for Mamdani,\u2026 sometimes you learn the hard way. What did they say in The Wizard of Oz? \u2018Don\u2019t pay attention to the man behind the curtain.\u2019 \u2026 I\u2019m sure many [Jews] have buyer\u2019s remorse \u2013 certainly with regard to their votes for Mayor Mamdani,\u201d Schneier Dresbach said.<\/p>\n

Schneier Dresbach said antisemitism has exploded after Hamas\u2019 Oct. 7, 2023 attack on Israel and the subsequent war in Gaza.<\/p>\n

In an example close to home, her father Arthur Schneier\u2019s historic Upper East Side synagogue was targeted by menacing anti-Israel protesters last year. <\/p>\n

The Holocaust-surviving 96-year-old, who founded the organization where Schneier Dresbach is executive vice president,\u00a0told The Post last November that the protest\u00a0l<\/a>eft him shaken.<\/p>\n

\u201cI don\u2019t know how you expect a man to feel who saw his synagogue burn to the ground as a child and now has his synagogue attacked twice in the United States \u2014 and now to witness, almost on a daily basis, the egregious attacks, these heinous attacks on houses of worship, synagogues, [on Jews] \u2026 It\u2019s insanity!\u201d Schneier Dresbach said. <\/p>\n

\u201cThe question is: When does it end and how does it end?\u201d<\/p>\n

Her father, who still serves as the Appeals of Conscience Foundation\u2019s president, fled Budapest and arrived in the United States in 1947. He founded the organization to promote religious freedom, human rights, peace and inter-religious dialogue across the globe and received the Presidential Citizens Medal from then-President Bill Clinton in 2001. <\/p>\n

Schneier Dresbach also referred to the recent \u201cpremeditated\u201d alleged hate crime committed at Central Synagogue <\/a>by wacko Larry Montes. The antisemite barged into the house of worship on Lexington Avenue and East 55th Street during a Shabbat service \u2014 and allegedly attacked a congregant and a security guard, unleashing chaos on the peaceful place.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt\u2019s very premeditated. When somebody says, \u2018Oh, the guy who ran into Central Synagogue was a crazy person.\u2019 He wasn\u2019t so crazy,\u201d Schneier Dresbach said. <\/p>\n

\u201cIf he was crazy, he would have gone out anywhere in the street and yelled. He specifically picked a synagogue.\u201d<\/p>\n

Mamdani\u2019s office had no immediate comment on Schneier Dresbach\u2019s accusations.<\/p>\n

But the mayor has said he has \u201czero tolerance\u201d for antisemitism or any kind of bigotry and has dedicated more funds to address it.<\/p>\n
