\u201cReading Rainbow\u201d host Mychal Threets<\/a> on Saturday shared a health update following his recent decision to seek more intensive medical help for mental health issues.<\/p>\n

\u201cI just wanted to apologize for worrying so many people,\u201d Threets, 36, said in a video clip shared to T<\/a>hreads<\/a>. \u201cI just got back from a five-day stay at the hospital, a five-day psychiatric hold. I haven\u2019t been OK for what feels like a very, very long time. I am not OK. But I have hope that I will get to OK.\u201d<\/p>\n

Threets, the media personality and beloved librarian who hosts the \u201cReading Rainbow\u201d reboot, went on to thank the health care professionals who he said saved his life. <\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019m on the struggle bookmobile. It\u2019s gonna take a long time for me to be OK,\u201d he continued. \u201cIt\u2019s going to take a long time, but I just wanted to say thank you to the multitude of doctors, nurses and mental health workers I saw \u2014 it\u2019s not enough, but thank you, you saved my life.\u201d<\/p>\n

Threets then shared a message of thanks for his fans. <\/p>\n

\u201cThree, six, nine, it\u2019s okay to not be fine. We\u2019re struggling. We\u2019re human beings. We\u2019re doing our best,\u201d he said. \u201cThank you for being you. Thank you for staying. Maybe I\u2019ll see you at the library. I\u2019ll see you tomorrow. I love you.\u201d<\/p>\n

Threets captioned the post, \u201cI am safe [mending heart emoji].\u201d<\/p>\n

Threets announced in an Aug. 17 Threads post <\/a>that he was checking himself into a hospital for mental health care. <\/p>\n

\u201cI am not okay. Maybe I\u2019ll never be okay. I\u2019m seeking help,\u201d he wrote. \u201cGoing to the hospital tomorrow. In this moment I am safe. By God\u2019s grace.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cNo matter what happens to me I will always be thankful for the extraordinary people in my life who worry, who help me,\u201d Threets continued. \u201cThank you for your care. I will always love you.\u201d<\/p>\n

Threets, who has nearly 1 million Instagram followers, has opened up in the past about navigating depression and anxiety while in the spotlight. <\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019m still a very introverted person,\u201d he told People<\/a> in January. \u201cI think because of what\u2019s happened in life, I\u2019ve become more extroverted. I\u2019ve been more comfortable talking about the library, talking about library stories, talking about mental health, just because I love it all. But had I known all this was going to happen, I probably would\u2019ve never started posting.\u201d <\/p>\n
