Brown replaces James Click, who was not given a new contract and parted ways with the Astros just days after they won the World Series.<\/p>\n<p>The <a href=\"https:\/\/www.houstonpublicmedia.org\/articles\/news\/sports\/2026\/08\/03\/558450\/houston-astros-first-place-sweep-texas-rangers\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Houston Astros<\/a> General Manager, Dana Brown, is parting ways with the team after four seasons, according to a statement released by the team on Monday morning. <\/p>\n<p>According to the Astros, Brown&#8217;s responsibilities &#8220;will be transitioned to the Astros assistant general managers, Charles Cook, Gavin Dickey and Connor Huff and to Senior Advisor Jeff Dagwell.&#8221; <\/p>\n<p>The team also said that Astros Owners and Chairman Jim Crane will &#8220;oversee baseball operations through the transition period.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Sign up for the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.houstonpublicmedia.org\/hellohouston\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">Hello, Houston!<\/a> daily newsletter to get local reports like this delivered directly to your inbox.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Over the past four seasons, Dana has helped our organization win two division titles and has led our baseball front office through key scouting, draft and development efforts,&#8221; Crane said in a statement released by the team. &#8220;On behalf of the Astros, I want to thank him for his commitment, energy and contributions to our organization. We wish he and his family the best.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Brown became the Astros general manager in January 2023. The team said his contract had been set to expire at the end of the 2026 season. <\/p>\n<p>&#8220;I want to thank Jim Crane for the opportunity to serve in my first role as an MLB general manager,&#8221; Brown said in a press release. &#8220;The Astros organization and the fans have welcomed me and my family, and I am grateful to have called Houston home for the past four seasons. I wish the organization well, and I look forward to the future as I continue my 36-plus years in professional baseball.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Brown\u2019s departure comes after the Astros lost back-to-back games against the Athletics this weekend. The Astros are currently tied with the Rangers for first place in the American League West.
