Valverde described Fonda Toro as a casual, approachable Mexican restaurant with coffee and cocktails. The restaurant will also have a sushi bar.<\/p>\n

The key at Fonda Toro, Valverde said, is a casual atmosphere and affordable prices.\u00a0“We don’t want to say it’s a neighborhood spot and then overprice ourselves,” he said.<\/p>\n

Appetizers will range from $17 to $19. Taco plates will start at $18. Those who opt for steak or sushi might end up spending a little more, he said. “The food is generous, the point of\u00a0view is confident, and nothing is precious,” according to a company statement.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Coeval Studio is redesigning the\u00a0former Meyboom Brasserie on Greenville Avenue<\/a>, with a new patio on the side and a sushi bar and Japanese garden\u00a0in the back. They’re trying to restore the original terrazzo floors, which were once covered with tile.<\/p>\n

Valverde and Gallegos, both East Dallas residents, were drawn to the neighborhood because of the open-air markets on weekends and the walkability.<\/p>\n

“We’re excited to be part of an iconic street like Greenville,” Valverde said.<\/p>\n

Fonda Toro is at 2100 Greenville Ave., Dallas.
