PHOENIX (AZFamily)<\/b> \u2014 A 12-year-old Phoenix girl has once again turned her passion for helping others into a mountain of diapers for local families in need.<\/p>\n
Sloan Petty collected nearly 30,000 diapers this year as part of a diaper drive she has organized for the past five years, reaching out to friends, family and the broader community to gather donations.<\/p>\n
Last week, Petty delivered the diapers to Nourish Phoenix<\/a>, a food and clothing bank in central Phoenix that serves families across the Valley.<\/p>\n Diapers are among the most requested \u2014 and hardest to stretch \u2014 items for families struggling to make ends meet, as they aren\u2019t covered by federal assistance programs like SNAP.<\/p>\n For Petty, watching her small idea grow into a community-wide effort has been an emotional experience.<\/p>\n \u201cIt also makes me really happy that I was able to do that. It\u2019s kind of a weird feeling because I didn\u2019t think it could become this big and do that much for other people.
