The famous “Ted Lasso” dance performed by Jason Sudeikis in multiple episodes of the hit show actually ties back to…. the Chicago Bears? <\/p>\n
Speaking to the “Today Show” over the weekend, Sudeikis revealed his character’s iconic dance moves have actually been a good luck charm he’s been using since he scored his first on-camera “SNL” appearance in 2005. <\/p>\n
The sketch was about the Chicago Bears’ Super Bowl Shuffle, featuring Sudeikis and Tom Brady. <\/p>\n
“When I was doing that part, that was just me making a bold choice as a writer,” Sudeikis said. <\/p>\n
(NOTE: Though Sudeikis says he was performing as Kevin Butler, No. 8 for the ’85 Bears was actually Maury Buford. Kevin Butler was No. 6.)<\/p>\n
Sudeikis co-wrote the sketch with a group of writers, including one of the co-creators of “Ted Lasso,” but ultimately ended up starring in it thanks to his hilarious dance moves.<\/p>\n
Those same moves have since become a beloved part of his Apple TV hit “Ted Lasso,” with the coach seen performing them as a celebration dance in the show. <\/p>\n
“That dance has been like, yeah, a little good luck charm,” Sudeikis said. <\/p>\n
Though a known Kansas City fan, Sudeikis’ ties to the Chicago Bears run deep, with “SNL” legend George Wendt as his uncle.
