A new elevated bridge, 1.4 miles in length, would be constructed from the main lanes east of I-35W to Intermodal Parkway, with associated roadway on either side, for a total project of 2.4 miles.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Update:<\/strong> Public hearings for the project were held in person and virtually July 28 to gather public input. Schematic design and environmental work would start in the spring of 2027, according to a news release. \u200b\u200b\u200b\u200b\u200b\u200b<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Timeline:<\/strong> spring 2027-spring 2029<\/li>\n<li><strong>Cost:<\/strong> $115 million<\/li>\n<li><strong>Funding source:<\/strong> Texas Department of Transportation<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Ongoing projects<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>2. <a href=\"https:\/\/communityimpact.com\/prosper-celina\/transportation\/dallas-north-tollway-legacy-drive-7-transportation-updates-in-prosper-celina\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Oklahoma Drive improvements<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Project:<\/strong> Crews are converting Oklahoma Drive from asphalt to concrete from Pecan Street to Malone Street. Work also includes drainage, signage, lighting and landscaping improvements.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Update:<\/strong> Oklahoma Drive is open to traffic between Pecan Street and Beech Street as paving work moves to the segment between Beech Street and Malone Street.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Timeline:<\/strong> estimated completion in October 2026<\/li>\n<li><strong>Cost: <\/strong>$3.04 million<\/li>\n<li><strong>Funding source:<\/strong> city of Celina<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>3. <a href=\"https:\/\/communityimpact.com\/mckinney\/transportation\/check-out-updates-for-5-transportation-projects-in-mckinney\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Eldorado Parkway and Virginia Parkway rehabilitation<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Project:<\/strong> Reconstruction of failing concrete panels and broken curbs will occur along Eldorado Parkway between Ridge Road and US 75, and Virginia Parkway between Stonebridge Drive and US 75.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Update:<\/strong> Work on Eldorado Parkway is complete. Work continues on Virginia Parkway between Lake Forest Drive and Hardin Boulevard. Additional improvements along Virginia Parkway between Hardin Boulevard and US 75 will be delayed until funding is available.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Timeline:<\/strong> June 2025-October 2026<\/li>\n<li><strong>Cost: <\/strong>$10.8 million<\/li>\n<li><strong>Funding source: <\/strong>city of McKinney<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>4. <a href=\"https:\/\/communityimpact.com\/denton\/transportation\/a-new-bridge-installation-new-asphalt-see-updates-on-7-denton-transportation-projects\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Hickory Creek Road widening Phase 3<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Project:<\/strong> Crews will widen Hickory Creek Road in Denton from Riverpass Drive to FM 1830 (Country Club Road) and install a new bridge with four-lane divided roadway, sidewalk improvements and street lighting.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Update:<\/strong> Crews are currently in construction to install the new bridge.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Timeline:<\/strong> spring 2023-early 2027<\/li>\n<li><strong>Cost:<\/strong> $54 million<\/li>\n<li><strong>Funding source:<\/strong> city of Denton<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>5. <a href=\"https:\/\/communityimpact.com\/denton\/transportation\/a-new-bridge-installation-new-asphalt-see-updates-on-7-denton-transportation-projects\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">King Road construction<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Project:<\/strong> King Road in Frisco is being updated to include two new lanes along the roadway from Rose Lane to Witt Road, bringing King Road to four lanes total.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Update:<\/strong> The project is under construction and is expected to be completed next year.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Timeline:<\/strong> late 2025-mid 2027<\/li>\n<li><strong>Cost:<\/strong> $12.5 million<\/li>\n<li><strong>Funding source:<\/strong> city of Frisco, external funding<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"Check out five upcoming and ongoing transportation projects around Dallas-Fort Worth.
