The <a rel=\"noopener noreferrer nofollow\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/ladotlivablestreets.org\/projects\/springalameda\">Spring\/Alameda Safety &amp; Mobility Project<\/a> extends 1.2 miles from Los Angeles Street \u2013 at Union Station \u2013 to Wilhardt Street near the L.A. River. The area is represented by pro-bike\/walk City Councilmember Eunisses Hernandez.<\/p>\n<p><a rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/08\/SpringAlamedaprojectmap2026.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"729\" height=\"519\" src=\"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/08\/SpringAlamedaprojectmap2026.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-228186\" style=\"width:729px;height:auto\"  \/><\/a>LADOT map of Spring\/Alameda improvements \u2013 via <a rel=\"noopener noreferrer nofollow\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/ladotlivablestreets-cms.org\/uploads\/59a6c79726de4b4a81c0af7bdaa421c6.pdf\">project fact sheet<\/a><\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The new Spring\/Alameda bikeway will connect to Union Station, the Metro E Line Chinatown Station, and L.A. State Historic Park. It will close a gap between the L.A. River path and Union Station \u2013 via on-street bikeways on <a rel=\"noopener noreferrer nofollow\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/la.streetsblog.org\/2022\/12\/07\/eyes-on-the-street-new-bike-lanes-on-avenue-19-and-first-street\">Avenue 19<\/a> and <a rel=\"noopener noreferrer nofollow\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/la.streetsblog.org\/2022\/07\/25\/four-years-late-north-spring-street-bike-lanes-installed\">North Broadway\/North Spring<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"694\" height=\"577\" src=\"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/08\/LADOTWinter2026videoscreengrab03CollegeSpring_2026Apr19crop.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-228189\"  \/>Rendering of Spring\/Alameda project at Chinatown Station \u2013 via <a rel=\"noopener noreferrer nofollow\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=0Rsm40pEFoE\">LADOT YouTube<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">LADOT plans to install concrete <a rel=\"noopener noreferrer nofollow\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.instagram.com\/reel\/DaA5jOChiIs\/\">Toronto Barrier<\/a> protection along at least some of the protected bike lanes, including at Chinatown Station and L.A. State Historic Park. The project will also add new signalized pedestrian crossing at Ann Street.<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Construction got underway in late July. It appears that most of the work to date has been to repair and retrofit sidewalks, including upgrading wheelchair access ramps.<\/p>\n<p><a rel=\"noopener noreferrer nofollow\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/la.streetsblog.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/13\/2026\/08\/SpringAlameda2026Aug24_05.jpeg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" height=\"769\" width=\"1024\" src=\"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/08\/SpringAlameda2026Aug24_05.jpeg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-228187\"  \/><\/a>Sidewalk\/curb\/ramp construction underway today in front of Philippe\u2019s<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Today Streetsblog spotted a completed new bus stop island \u2013 with protected bike lane \u2013 on Alameda at the Chinatown A Line Station.<\/p>\n<p><a rel=\"noopener noreferrer nofollow\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/la.streetsblog.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/13\/2026\/08\/SpringAlameda2026Aug24_01.jpeg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" height=\"743\" width=\"1024\" src=\"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/08\/SpringAlameda2026Aug24_01.jpeg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-228188\"  \/><\/a>New concrete bus island on Alameda Street at Chinatown Station (see also photo at top of post)<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The project is under construction, and anticipated to be complete in 2027.
