{"id":102267,"date":"2025-07-29T14:26:11","date_gmt":"2025-07-29T14:26:11","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/102267\/"},"modified":"2025-07-29T14:26:11","modified_gmt":"2025-07-29T14:26:11","slug":"mom-investigating-company-employer-for-hiring-women-with-forged-university-certificates","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/102267\/","title":{"rendered":"MOM investigating company, employer for hiring women with forged university certificates"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>SINGAPORE: The Manpower Ministry (MOM) is in the latter stages of investigating a company and an employer for hiring two Filipino women who used forged university certificates in their Employment Pass (EP) applications, it said on Tuesday (Jul 29).<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;MOM is completing its investigations into the company and employer and will decide on the enforcement action to take against them,&#8221; a spokesperson for the ministry said.<\/p>\n<p>The two women \u2013 Conol Almira Joy Torres and Torres Alyssa Riva Fernan, both 29 \u2013 were <a href=\"https:\/\/www.channelnewsasia.com\/singapore\/women-jailed-fake-uni-degree-mr-fix-mom-5245306\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">handed jail sentences on Jul 17<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Their offences were only uncovered after MOM conducted &#8220;a random inspection\u201d on the company that had employed them, CL Enterprise.<\/p>\n<p>Following their sentencing, CNA asked MOM why this was the case, and if their employer was under investigation.<\/p>\n<p>The spokesperson for the ministry on Tuesday added that, prior to the introduction of the Complementarity Assessment Framework (COMPASS) in September 2023, &#8220;employers were primarily responsible for verifying the authenticity of candidates&#8217; qualifications submitted in their Employment Pass applications&#8221;.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;The Ministry of Manpower conducts additional random checks on authenticity of the qualifications for selected applications, during the application stage and throughout the employment of the EP holder,&#8221; the spokesperson said.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Since September 2023, employers who declare qualifications to earn points under the COMPASS framework are required to submit verification proof for the qualifications declared in their EP applications.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>The two women were employed based on their fraudulent credentials between 2020 and 2022.<\/p>\n<p>CL Enterprise operates Mr Fix retail outlets that sell kitchenware and hand soap.<\/p>\n<p>The two women were interviewed for their jobs by CL Enterprise director Samuel Tseng Yi Long.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"SINGAPORE: The Manpower Ministry (MOM) is in the latter stages of investigating a company and an employer for&hellip;\n","protected":false},"author":3,"featured_media":102268,"comment_status":"","ping_status":"","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":{"footnotes":""},"categories":[14],"tags":[64,4219,420,17704,67,132,68],"class_list":{"0":"post-102267","1":"post","2":"type-post","3":"status-publish","4":"format-standard","5":"has-post-thumbnail","7":"category-jobs","8":"tag-business","9":"tag-crime","10":"tag-jobs","11":"tag-ministry-of-manpower","12":"tag-united-states","13":"tag-unitedstates","14":"tag-us"},"share_on_mastodon":{"url":"https:\/\/pubeurope.com\/@us\/114936989845582902","error":""},"_links":{"self":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts\/102267","targetHints":{"allow":["GET"]}}],"collection":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts"}],"about":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/types\/post"}],"author":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/users\/3"}],"replies":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/comments?post=102267"}],"version-history":[{"count":0,"href":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts\/102267\/revisions"}],"wp:featuredmedia":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/media\/102268"}],"wp:attachment":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/media?parent=102267"}],"wp:term":[{"taxonomy":"category","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/categories?post=102267"},{"taxonomy":"post_tag","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/tags?post=102267"}],"curies":[{"name":"wp","href":"https:\/\/api.w.org\/{rel}","templated":true}]}}
