A frequent name mentioned in trade talk, the fourth-year wideout is indeed being swapped.<\/p>\n<p><a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/cdn.profootballrumors.com\/files\/2025\/04\/USATSI_25001649-scaled.jpg\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\"><img fetchpriority=\"high\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/08\/USATSI_25001649-211x300.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"211\" height=\"300\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-360834 alignright\"  \/><\/a>Boutte is being dealt from the\u00a0<strong>Patriots\u00a0<\/strong>to the\u00a0<strong>Texans,\u00a0<\/strong><a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/TomPelissero\/status\/2091958051116904534\" rel=\"nofollow\">Tom Pelissero of The Ringer reports<\/a>. In exchange, Houston is sending safety\u00a0<strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.pro-football-reference.com\/players\/R\/ReedJa04.htm?utm_medium=linker&amp;utm_source=www.profootballrumors.com&amp;utm_campaign=2026-08-24_pfr\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">Jaylen Reed<\/a>\u00a0<\/strong>and a draft pick to New England. The selection in question is a 2028 seventh-rounder, <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/RapSheet\/status\/2091961396288176188\" rel=\"nofollow\">NFL Network\u2019s Ian Rapoport adds<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p><a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.profootballrumors.com\/2026\/03\/2026-nfl-trades\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\"><strong>[RELATED: 2026 NFL Trades]<\/strong><\/a><\/p>\n<p>In the wake of\u00a0<strong><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.pro-football-reference.com\/players\/H\/HiggJa00.htm?utm_medium=linker&amp;utm_source=www.profootballrumors.com&amp;utm_campaign=2026-08-24_pfr\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">Jayden Higgins<\/a><\/strong>\u00a0<\/strong>suffering an ACL tear, the Texans began reaching out to teams to explore trade targets. <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.profootballrumors.com\/2026\/08\/texans-making-trade-calls-on-wrs-team-eyeing-workouts-at-position\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">Boutte was one of them<\/a>, so today\u2019s move comes as little surprise. Houston also staged workouts with veteran receivers <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.pro-football-reference.com\/players\/J\/JoneZa00.htm?utm_medium=linker&amp;utm_source=www.profootballrumors.com&amp;utm_campaign=2026-08-21_pfr\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">Zay Jones<\/a><\/strong>\u00a0and\u00a0<strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.pro-football-reference.com\/players\/S\/ShepSt00.htm?utm_medium=linker&amp;utm_source=www.profootballrumors.com&amp;utm_campaign=2026-08-21_pfr\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">Sterling Shepard<\/a><\/strong> last week. <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.profootballrumors.com\/2026\/08\/texans-to-sign-zay-jones-sterling-shepard\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">Both of them agreed to deals<\/a>, and Boutte is now the latest new arrival at the WR spot.<\/p>\n<p>This agreement ends months of speculation about the Patriots dealing from their newfound wide receiver surplus. Boutte had been mentioned in trade rumors throughout the offseason, as the Patriots were the <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.pro-football-reference.com\/players\/B\/BrowAJ00.htm?utm_medium=linker&amp;utm_source=www.profootballrumors.com&amp;utm_campaign=2026-08-24_pfr\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">A.J. Brown<\/a><\/strong> frontrunners for an extended period prior to their June 1 trade with the Eagles. New England had added <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.pro-football-reference.com\/players\/D\/DoubRo00.htm?utm_medium=linker&amp;utm_source=www.profootballrumors.com&amp;utm_campaign=2026-08-24_pfr\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">Romeo Doubs<\/a><\/strong> in free agency before the Brown move, leaving Boutte with an uncertain path to regular playing time.<\/p>\n<p>Boutte trade rumors date back to at least spring 2025, when a rumor emerged <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.profootballrumors.com\/2025\/04\/patriots-open-to-trading-wr-kayshon-boutte\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">just before the draft about Boutte\u2019s availability<\/a>. That news came after the Pats had signed ex-Texans trade pickup <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.pro-football-reference.com\/players\/D\/DiggSt00.htm?utm_medium=linker&amp;utm_source=www.profootballrumors.com&amp;utm_campaign=2026-08-24_pfr\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">Stefon Diggs<\/a><\/strong>. A Pats team that had aggressively pursued receiving help for multiple offseasons stuck with Boutte, however, and saw the 5-foot-11 wideout accumulate 551 receiving yards on 33 receptions last season. Boutte then added a spectacular touchdown grab in the Pats\u2019 divisional-round win over the Texans.<\/p>\n<p>Just ahead of the 2026 draft, a rumor emerged indicating New England was <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.profootballrumors.com\/2026\/04\/patriots-kayshon-boutte-available-in-trade\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">seeking a Day 3 choice for Boutte<\/a> \u2014 a 2023 sixth-round pick \u2014 and after the Brown trade became official it became known Boutte <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.profootballrumors.com\/2026\/06\/pats-kayshon-boutte-interested-in-trade\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">was interested in being moved<\/a>. Robert Kraft labeling the Pats\u2019 wideout room \u201cpretty full\u201d came along with a rumor the team <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.profootballrumors.com\/2026\/07\/patriots-trying-to-do-right-by-wr-kayshon-boutte\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">wanted to do right by Boutte<\/a>. With <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.pro-football-reference.com\/players\/D\/DougDe00.htm?utm_medium=linker&amp;utm_source=www.profootballrumors.com&amp;utm_campaign=2026-08-24_pfr\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">DeMario Douglas<\/a><\/strong> also a contract-year receiver depth piece, the Texans will bring in the LSU product to play out his platform year in Houston.<\/p>\n<p><a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/cdn.profootballrumors.com\/files\/2026\/08\/2026-01-16T030724Z_736856202_MT1USATODAY28015881_RTRMADP_3_NFL-AFC-WILD-CARD-ROUND-HOUSTON-TEXANS-AT-PITTSBURGH-STEELERS-scaled.jpg\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/08\/2026-01-16T030724Z_736856202_MT1USATODAY28015881_RTRMADP_3_NFL-AFC-WILD-CARD-ROUND-HOUSTON-TEXANS-AT.jpeg\" alt=\"\" width=\"237\" height=\"300\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-416485 alignleft\"  \/><\/a>Boutte, who tallied a career-high 589 yards during <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.pro-football-reference.com\/players\/M\/MayeDr00.htm?utm_medium=linker&amp;utm_source=www.profootballrumors.com&amp;utm_campaign=2026-08-24_pfr\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">Drake Maye<\/a><\/strong>\u2018s 2024 rookie season, joins a Texans receiving corps that still carried reasonable depth after the Higgins injury. <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.pro-football-reference.com\/players\/N\/NoelJa00.htm?utm_medium=linker&amp;utm_source=www.profootballrumors.com&amp;utm_campaign=2026-08-24_pfr\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">Jaylin Noel<\/a><\/strong> and the returning <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.pro-football-reference.com\/players\/D\/DellNa00.htm?utm_medium=linker&amp;utm_source=www.profootballrumors.com&amp;utm_campaign=2026-08-24_pfr\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">Tank Dell<\/a><\/strong> complement No. 1 option <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.pro-football-reference.com\/players\/C\/CollNi00.htm?utm_medium=linker&amp;utm_source=www.profootballrumors.com&amp;utm_campaign=2026-08-24_pfr\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">Nico Collins<\/a><\/strong> in a passing attack also featuring tight end <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.pro-football-reference.com\/players\/S\/SchuDa00.htm?utm_medium=linker&amp;utm_source=www.profootballrumors.com&amp;utm_campaign=2026-08-24_pfr\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">Dalton Schultz<\/a><\/strong>. Houston also employs veteran receiver <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.pro-football-reference.com\/players\/W\/WatsJu01.htm?utm_medium=linker&amp;utm_source=www.profootballrumors.com&amp;utm_campaign=2026-08-24_pfr\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">Justin Watson<\/a><\/strong> to go with <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.pro-football-reference.com\/players\/H\/HutcXa00.htm?utm_medium=linker&amp;utm_source=www.profootballrumors.com&amp;utm_campaign=2026-08-24_pfr\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">Xavier Hutchinson<\/a><\/strong> and sixth-round rookie <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.sports-reference.com\/cfb\/players\/lewis-bond-1.html?utm_medium=linker&amp;utm_source=www.profootballrumors.com&amp;utm_campaign=2026-08-24_cfb\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">Lewis Bond<\/a><\/strong>. Dell is <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.profootballrumors.com\/2026\/08\/texans-wr-jayden-higgins-suffers-torn-acl\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">not a lock to be ready for Week 1<\/a>, however; that possibly contributed to this trade agreement.<\/p>\n<p>On steadier ground at safety entering the week, the Texans felt comfortable parting with Reed \u2014 a 2025 sixth-round pick. Reed played seven games last season, starting one. He will likely compete with <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.pro-football-reference.com\/players\/P\/PettDe00.htm?utm_medium=linker&amp;utm_source=www.profootballrumors.com&amp;utm_campaign=2026-08-24_pfr\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">Dell Pettus<\/a><\/strong>, the Pats\u2019 top safety backup, <a target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/MikeReiss\/status\/2091996808952025155\" rel=\"nofollow\">ESPN.com\u2019s Mike Reiss notes<\/a>. The Pats lost <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.pro-football-reference.com\/players\/H\/HawkJa00.htm?utm_medium=linker&amp;utm_source=www.profootballrumors.com&amp;utm_campaign=2026-08-24_pfr\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">Jaylinn Hawkins<\/a><\/strong> in free agency but reunited <strong>Mike Vrabel<\/strong> with ex-Titans charge <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.pro-football-reference.com\/players\/B\/ByarKe01.htm?utm_medium=linker&amp;utm_source=www.profootballrumors.com&amp;utm_campaign=2026-08-24_pfr\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">Kevin Byard<\/a><\/strong>. He and <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.pro-football-reference.com\/players\/W\/WoodCr00.htm?utm_medium=linker&amp;utm_source=www.profootballrumors.com&amp;utm_campaign=2026-08-24_pfr\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">Craig Woodson<\/a><\/strong> are the Pats\u2019 safety starters.<\/p>\n<p>Houston is in good shape at safety, having signed <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.pro-football-reference.com\/players\/B\/BlanRe00.htm?utm_medium=linker&amp;utm_source=www.profootballrumors.com&amp;utm_campaign=2026-08-24_pfr\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">Reed Blankenship<\/a><\/strong> in free agency. The team also rosters ascending talent <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.pro-football-reference.com\/players\/B\/BullCa00.htm?utm_medium=linker&amp;utm_source=www.profootballrumors.com&amp;utm_campaign=2026-08-24_pfr\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">Calen Bullock<\/a><\/strong> at the position, and <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.pro-football-reference.com\/players\/P\/PitrJa00.htm?utm_medium=linker&amp;utm_source=www.profootballrumors.com&amp;utm_campaign=2026-08-24_pfr\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">Jalen Pitre<\/a><\/strong> has considerable experience there; Houston has used the former second-rounder in the slot in recent years. The Texans also signed <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.pro-football-reference.com\/players\/S\/StewM.00.htm?utm_medium=linker&amp;utm_source=www.profootballrumors.com&amp;utm_campaign=2026-08-24_pfr\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">M.J. Stewart<\/a><\/strong> in free agency this year and used a fifth-round pick on safety <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.sports-reference.com\/cfb\/players\/kamari-ramsey-1.html?utm_medium=linker&amp;utm_source=www.profootballrumors.com&amp;utm_campaign=2026-08-24_cfb\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">Kamari Ramsey<\/a><\/strong>, crowding their room.<\/p>\n<p>While Reed is signed through the 2028 season, Boutte looks set to play out a contract year ahead of a 2027 free agency bid. The Texans have Dell in a walk year, but both Higgins and Noel are locked in through 2028.
