Trailer: Sacha Baron Cohen Reprises Classic Character"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto     \">\n\tAmazon MGM Studios has unveiled the first trailer for\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/deadline.com\/tag\/ali-g\/\" id=\"auto-tag_ali-g\" data-tag=\"ali-g\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Ali G<\/a>: Who Iz I?, its new comedy in which <a href=\"https:\/\/deadline.com\/tag\/sacha-baron-cohen\/\" id=\"auto-tag_sacha-baron-cohen\" data-tag=\"sacha-baron-cohen\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Sacha Baron Cohen<\/a> reprises his classic character of Ali G.<\/p>\n<p>Releasing globally in theaters on Oct. 23,\u00a0Who Iz I?\u2018s plot has been kept under wraps until now. News of the film, marking Cohen\u2019s feature directorial debut, only emerged via a leak last month. Cohen made headlines recently when he was spotted in character at Wimbledon.<\/p>\n<p>Ali G is the British hip-hop character popularized by Cohen in the early 2000s. He debuted as the character on Channel 4\u2019s\u00a0The 11 O\u2019Clock Show\u00a0in 1998 before going on to headline\u00a0Da Ali G Show, his own show fully centered on the character, which aired its first season on Channel 4 before making its way to HBO for two further installments. Previously in film, Ali G was the centerpiece of\u00a0Ali G Indahouse, a Universal Pictures comedy co-written by and starring Cohen.<\/p>\n<p>Ali G: Who Iz I?\u00a0reunites Cohen with Amazon MGM on the heels of\u00a0Borat Subsequent Moviefilm, the Borat sequel released on Prime Video during Covid, which earned a pair of Oscar nominations.
