{"id":10249,"date":"2025-06-24T08:23:12","date_gmt":"2025-06-24T08:23:12","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/10249\/"},"modified":"2025-06-24T08:23:12","modified_gmt":"2025-06-24T08:23:12","slug":"pizza-shop-on-dallas-greenville-avenue-to-sell-final-pies-this-week","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/10249\/","title":{"rendered":"Pizza shop on Dallas\u2019 Greenville Avenue to sell final pies this week"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"body-text-paragraph\">Pizzeria Testa, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dallasnews.com\/food\/2017\/08\/23\/pizza-shop-to-open-on-greenville-avenue-in-dallas-in-place-of-former-wayward-sons\/\" target=\"_self\" rel=\"noopener\" title=\"https:\/\/www.dallasnews.com\/food\/2017\/08\/23\/pizza-shop-to-open-on-greenville-avenue-in-dallas-in-place-of-former-wayward-sons\/\">the family-friendly Italian restaurant on Dallas\u2019 Greenville Avenue<\/a>, will serve its last pies on June 29.<\/p>\n<p class=\"body-text-paragraph\">Restaurant and building owner Rod Schaefer leased the space to Austin Rodgers and Jeff Bekavac, the East Dallas residents who <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dallasnews.com\/food\/restaurant-news\/2024\/05\/21\/goodwins-open-east-dallas-american-food-greenville-ave\/\" target=\"_self\" rel=\"noopener\" title=\"https:\/\/www.dallasnews.com\/food\/restaurant-news\/2024\/05\/21\/goodwins-open-east-dallas-american-food-greenville-ave\/\">own and operate Goodwin\u2019s<\/a> <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dallasnews.com\/food\/2019\/02\/20\/greenville-avenue-s-newest-restaurant-and-bar-has-texas-flair\/\" target=\"_self\" rel=\"noopener\" title=\"https:\/\/www.dallasnews.com\/food\/2019\/02\/20\/greenville-avenue-s-newest-restaurant-and-bar-has-texas-flair\/\">and Alamo Club<\/a> \u2014 two other restaurants on Greenville Avenue. (Rodgers sold Mayer\u2019s Garden, a bar on Henderson Avenue, in 2023.)<\/p>\n<p class=\"body-text-paragraph\">Frisco resident Schaefer told The Dallas Morning News he wasn\u2019t planning on making a change at Pizzeria Testa, a 7-year-old restaurant that was profitable. The restaurant was created in honor of Schaefer\u2019s grandparents and parents, who taught him to love \u201cfood, friends and family.\u201d <\/p>\n<p class=\"body-text-paragraph\">That vision will live on at the original Pizzeria Testa in Frisco, which launched in 2012. Rodgers and Bekavac were persuasive, Schaefer said.<\/p>\n<p class=\"body-text-paragraph\">\u201cIf we did this,\u201d Schaefer said, \u201cit was going to have to be with somebody who loved the community \u2014 and lived in the community as well.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p class=\"body-text-paragraph\">Rodgers and Bekavac were \u201cthe right concept with the right people at the right time,\u201d Schaefer said. Rodgers has lived on Greenville Avenue for nearly 14 years and Bekavac is a Lake Highlands resident. Their American restaurant Goodwin\u2019s has been a popular addition to East Dallas since it opened in mid-2024.<\/p>\n<p class=\"body-text-paragraph\">Rodgers and Bekavac had been eyeing Pizzeria Testa \u2014 or the space next door, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dallasnews.com\/food\/restaurant-news\/2025\/01\/20\/blue-fish-closed-sushi-dallas-greenville\/\" target=\"_self\" rel=\"noopener\" title=\"https:\/\/www.dallasnews.com\/food\/restaurant-news\/2025\/01\/20\/blue-fish-closed-sushi-dallas-greenville\/\">where Blue Fish has vacated<\/a> \u2014 to open their third Greenville Avenue restaurant. Schaefer owns the building that houses both restaurants.<\/p>\n<p class=\"body-text-paragraph\">\u201cI drive by it every single day,\u201d Rodgers said of the 3500 block of Greenville Avenue, across from the Granada Theater. <\/p>\n<p class=\"body-text-paragraph\">Their coming-soon restaurant will not be similar in menu to Goodwin\u2019s. The two chose not to share more details for now. <\/p>\n<p class=\"body-text-paragraph\">They were drawn to the pizza restaurant because it has room for large parties of 15 people or more, which Goodwin\u2019s lacks.<\/p>\n<p class=\"body-text-paragraph\">Even Schaefer, who is sad to see Testa go, is excited by Rodgers and Bekavac\u2019s vision in East Dallas.<\/p>\n<p class=\"body-text-paragraph\">\u201cWe are handing off the baton,\u201d Schaefer said. \u201cJeff and Austin\u2019s passion and heart for the concept became infectious to me.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"body-text-paragraph\">Pizzeria Testa is at 3525 Greenville Ave., Dallas.
