If you’re cleaning out the closet, a group in Fort Worth wants to do something good with your new or gently loved formal wear and accessories. <\/p>\n
Volunteers are busy getting ready for the fourth annual \u201cYour Dress, Their Dream\u201d Prom Dress Drive on Sunday, August 30.<\/p>\n
“Each year, all year long, people are like, are you doing the dress drive again? I had so much fun, so we are in it to win it,” said organizer Christy Smith. <\/p>\n
In the spirit of prom, organizers will turn the afternoon into a celebration, and a thank you to everyone who drops off new or gently loved formal wear and accessories. <\/p>\n
Dresses and tuxedos, shoes and purses, jewelry and unopened makeup are all needed. <\/p>\n
“We actually ask all year long, but this event on the 30th is the day that people show up with all this stuff. They have saved, put aside, collected. We even, if you don’t have anything to give but you wanna come to the donor party, we’re taking financial donations,” Smith said. <\/p>\n
All donations go to two Tarrant County nonprofits, which then have the fancy clothes ready to go for free when that special occasion pops up. <\/p>\n
Smith says a few years ago, she realized she had a closet of fancy dresses that she no longer needed but thought maybe someone else could use them. <\/p>\n
“I had all of these ball gowns from when I was teeny tiny, high school even, all the way to like pregnancy stuff, and I ended up with 10 gowns that I was like, what I’m gonna do with this,” Smith said as she talked about the beginnings of Your Dress Their Dream. “And it started in my driveway, like two weeks later, and that event was so successful,” she said.<\/p>\n
