\n\tSo begins the latest trailer for writer-director Aaron Sorkin<\/a>\u2018s The Social Reckoning<\/a>, which hits theaters October 9 \u2014 more than a decade and a half after the Best Picture Oscar-nominated The Social Network. The quote is from Wall Street Journal writer Jeff Horwitz (Jeremy Allen White), \u201cthat guy\u201d is one Mark Zuckerberg (Jeremy Strong), and \u201cthis company\u201d is \u2014 well, you know.<\/p>\n

\n\tDescribed as a \u201ccompanion piece to The Social Network,\u201d this new film is based on the events that sparked the Wall Street Journal\u2019s expos\u00e9 \u201cThe Facebook Files.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tThe official synopsis reads: The film is inspired by the true story of how Frances Haugen, a young Facebook engineer, enlists the help of Jeff Horwitz (Jeremy Allen White), a Wall Street Journal reporter, to go on a dangerous journey that ends up blowing the whistle on the social network\u2019s most guarded secrets.<\/p>\n

\n\tThe Social Reckoning arrives roughly 16 years after David Fincher\u2019s The Social Network and releases via Columbia Pictures on October 9. Sorkin directed from his own script.\u00a0<\/p>\n

\n\tThe film\u2019s cast features Mikey Madison, Wunmi Mosaku, Betty Gilpin, Billy Magnussen, Bill Burr and Jeremy Strong. Sorkin produced alongside Todd Black, Peter Rice, and Stuart Besser.\u00a0<\/p>\n

\n\tThe exec producers are Lauren Lohman, Roger McNamee, Ellen Goldsmith-Vein, Broderick Johnson, and Andrew A. Kosove.\u00a0<\/p>\n

\n\tIn the trailer, we see Madison\u2019s character meet with a reporter, played by White, and she tells him she wants to \u201chelp Facebook, not hurt it,\u201d which leaves White to wonder why she reached out to him.<\/p>\n

\n\tWe then go to court and get a first look at Strong as Mark Zuckerberg<\/a> \u2014 taking over a role made iconic by Jesse Eisenberg. He seems remorseless amid reports of Facebook\u2019s \u201cunprecedented\u201d impacts on society \u2014 impacts not necessarily for the better \u2014 calling himself a \u201cfree speech absolutist\u201d and \u201cnot the one who\u2019s lying.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/p>\n
