William Paul Getty, the grandson of oil magnate J. Paul Getty, and his wife Vanessa have scooped up a nearly $20 million Dallas mansion as the billionaire heir<\/a> sets his sights on expanding his business interests in Texas.<\/p>\n

The couple purchased the sprawling Crescent Avenue estate in ritzy Highland Park in June, according to deed records reported by The Real Deal<\/a> \u2014 adding another trophy property to the Getty family\u2019s impressive real estate portfolio.<\/p>\n

But the move doesn\u2019t mean the couple is giving up its West Coast roots.<\/p>\n

The home was purchased by J. Paul Getty\u2019s grandson William Paul Getty and his wife Vanessa.<\/p>\n

The Mediterranean-style mansion also packs in a temperature-controlled wine cellar, media theater and game room. Obtained by the CA Post<\/p>\n

\u201cMr. Getty is in the process of opening an office in Dallas. Billy and Vanessa have spent and plan to continue to spend a great deal of time there. Billy has been looking to further expand his portfolio and is excited about the business opportunities in Texas,\u201d a spokesperson for the Gettys told the California Post.<\/p>\n

The timing of the move is interesting, considering so many ultra-wealthy Californians are leaving<\/a> the state as the possibility of the billionaire tax looms<\/a>. However, the couple still has a home in the Golden State.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe Gettys have not sold either their San Francisco or Hawaii properties,\u201d the spokesperson added.<\/p>\n

William Getty \u2014 also known as Billy \u2014 is the son of Gordon Getty. California Governor Gavin Newsom grew up among the four sons of Gordon.<\/p>\n

Newsom claimed in his memoir<\/a> that his friendship with Billy collapsed over Billy\u2019s resentment of Newsom\u2019s close financial and personal ties to Gordon, who ultimately sided with Newsom.<\/p>\n

The home was purchased for $20 million by J. Paul Getty\u2019s grandson William Paul Getty and his wife Vanessa.<\/p>\n

Their new 11,400-square-foot spread, which was most recently listed for just under $20 million, sits on a half-acre in Highland Park and comes with seven bedrooms and nine-and-a-half bathrooms, per the outlet.<\/p>\n

The Mediterranean-style mansion also packs in a temperature-controlled wine cellar, media theater and game room, along with a five-car garage and a pool with water features.<\/p>\n

Highland Park is at the heart of a booming Dallas luxury market that has helped make the area a magnet for wealthy buyers.<\/p>\n

The home was reportedly sold by Jos\u00e9 Roberto Quiroz Mata and his wife, Mar\u00eda Isabel Mata Torrallardona, who both sit on the board of Dallas-based Grupo Bimbo Bakeries, the company behind brands including Little Bites, Takis and Entenmann\u2019s.<\/p>\n

Meanwhile, Getty\u2019s father, Gordon Getty, sold his famed Greco-Roman \u201cTemple of Wings\u201d mansion in Berkeley, California, for $5 million in 2024, while heiress Aileen Getty parted with her $14.1 million Malibu home in 2017 before heading for New York City.<\/p>\n

Vanessa Getty \u2014 a San Francisco socialite and philanthropist \u2014 made headlines for a different reason last year when she was accused of crashing her Porsche Taycan<\/a> into a parked Mercedes while looking for her glasses.<\/p>\n

Mary Riley, the senior who was allegedly injured in the San Francisco collision, claimed she suffered a traumatic brain injury and is suing Getty for unspecified damages.<\/p>\n
